I have a 28-200mm f/3.8 to f/5.6 Tamron that I especially like to use as a backup for my 28-70mm f/2.8 and my 80-200mm f/2.8 Nikkor lenses when I need to obtain tight face shots and full-body shots on the beach around sand and salt water. Not only does my Tamron allow me to shoot quickly but it also saves me from having to change lenses on the beach and expose my more expensive lenses to sand, salt water, and high winds. Plus, for some reason, my clients seem to prefer the portraits produced from my Tamron over the ones produced from my Nikkors.

Have you used clear zoom on these lenses? I’m wondering if the Tamron 70-180 with clear zoom is soft. Leaning toward Tamron but that extra focal length helps. Thanks.

To be honest I haven’t! I imagine it will help. I had to learn to make sure to have my f/stop have to a little higher so everything will be in focus. Especially when your subject is far away.

if you keep it at 5.6 for wide shots is a okay bokeh really is only needed for close up be rolls and close up performance shots if you do music videos... and if your shootin at night just have more light on hand.. goin from 28mm to 200mm if yu stay in f5.6 yull be good

4-5.6 are the sharpest aperature for that lens

Not really because I normally do move as much when I’m zoomed in. Plus of course my gimbal helps a lot!
