As opposed to just about every other guide out there, From Zero to Hero is a practical tutorial/guide series for Victoria II intended to explain how to play Victoria II with some level of competence, which is especially important for those who want to do well in multiplayer. This series will be most beneficial for those who already have at least some experience with Victoria II and is focused primarily on game concepts, strategy, and META. For those who are less experienced, I highly encourage you to load the game and follow along / practice as things are being demonstrated.

Tbh the game isn’t overly complicated. once you understand the concepts, the way that you influence them and how they interact with each other is pretty intuitive.

I forgot to mention the possibility/utility of intentionally driving up militancy to pass reforms or force rebellions, even in non-immigrant nations. I also forgot to mention the possibility of conflicting rebellions. But hopefully this video gets the point across well enough, anyway.

Does declaring war against a minor nation such as Sikhim and intentionally driving up militancy to pass certain reforms by denying a white peace work effectively for non-immigrant nations? Such as Prussia or Austria?
@Gakumerasara
@Gakumerasara 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would work the same in effect. The major risk in those specific cases: many Prussia or Austria players won't want to sit on their hands for 5-10 years, and doing 'other things' while remaining at war like this is risky. For example, your maxed out war exhaustion might have a major negative impact on the "real" war you intend to fight against a nation like France or Russia, if you don't allow enough time for the WE to go away. same if an opportunist happens to declare on you in the mean time. You would also have to question if it's worth the infamy hit, depending on exactly what you're intending to do via reforms or rebels.

Question (old video i know but i only just recently got the game) do movements help pass reforms at all, or is it strictly dependant on the ideologies of the upper house plus militancy? Like will a largely Conservative upper house agree to pass a political reform if a ton of people are in the Suffrage Movement? Also if people become rebels does that increase militancy?

Thanks for the comment. If you were curious, I recorded the bulk of what was to be Part 8 on October 12, 2021. It was 6 hours of raw video. I finished editing down about 4.5 hours of it. Then I put it on hold because I realized I would have to re-record large parts of it for the sake of clarity and completeness. I last worked on it in May of 2022. I had put aside time to work on it 2 months ago. But then I noticed Spudgun was working on a collaborative effort, meme-infused tutorial series. And then I looked at my subscriber count on KZbin and realized I'm actively losing subscribers every month. And so, I lost what little remaining desire I had to finish it. But thanks for stopping by.

@@Gakumerasara I checked the Spudgun channel and fully agree with you in your feelings :) The meme-infused series are more popular on KZbin ... but your content is unique, because it's a real Tutorial/Guide which very useful for beginners, :)) but the most of KZbinrs more love to see the play then self play (therefore the LetsPlay more popular than guides) ... What about the reprecussions of using the suppresion points. Doesnt it radicalize the movements, just further down the line?
@Gakumerasara
@Gakumerasara 4 жыл бұрын
That's true. Suppression points are a mixed bag. The most important use is to avoid crises, a use which can result in radicalization, but radicalization is better than getting dragged into wars you don't want. Aside from that, you can use suppression points to radicalize one group at the expense of another, or to attempt to spread out and manage radicalizations which would be happening regardless. A lot of it depends on if you plan to pass reforms in a timely manner. If you aren't, then you can use suppression points to offset reform push temporarily, or to help meter the rate at which you pass reforms. Suppressing everything isn't really a viable option since points accrue so slowly, so you'd have to 'pick your battles' so to speak.

Hey great video! Learned a lot. I do have a question though. In Lasses Faire economy, even though you get less money due to lower taxes and tariffs, your pops will have more money, so you country doesn't actually lose any money. Furthermore, money can be used more efficiently. So idealy, as long as your economy and your industry can support it, you should always have less government intervention as possible. Usually in multiplayer games I use Lasses Faire/intervensionism most of the times, as long as I have enough money in the budget and I 'm not in a deficit, unless I'm about to go to war. However I see most players tend to use state capitalism and impose very high taxes and tarrifs at all times. So what is the rationale behind this?
@NotBamOrBing
@NotBamOrBing 3 жыл бұрын
Probably that you have better uses for the money and if people are doing badly and need the money that much you can always lower taxes and/or give them pensions

43:04 "Low consciousness favours issue over ideology." The applicability of that statement to the real world...
@xd-ko9oo
@xd-ko9oo 2 жыл бұрын
its actually the opposite IRL, case in point- the democratic vs republic party in the US. if youre conservative in the US, youre likely to be siding with the right on every mainstream issue(gun rights, abortion rights, vaccine and mask mandates, etc), same goes for the left. if youre aware of the nuances of every issue and look at them objectively, youre extremely unlikely to be aligned with your party on most if not all of the issues. so no, "Low consciousness favours issue over ideology." is does not apply to the real world.
@Pan_Z
@Pan_Z 11 ай бұрын
@xd-ko9oo You're conflating parties with ideologies. Someone who is politically conscious would be knowledgeable to various issues, even if they weren't addressed by a political party. Victoria II simulates this. Initially, pops will only desire reforms if there's a problem getting their needs. As they grow more conscious, they demand reforms regardless. It becomes increasingly difficult to placate them.

As China (absolute monarchy), my upper house doesn't support any reforms. How do I pass a reform?
@CivilizedWasteland
@CivilizedWasteland 9 ай бұрын
Firstly uncivilized nations have to civilize first to do reforms. Second you need high militancy and consciousness to pass reforms and if you're upper house is mostly reactionaries it will need to be a really high number to pass one. You can try switching to a liberal party manually to get things passed. Pops will also be more inclined to convert to whatever the controlling party is so this will help give you more pops that want to pass reforms as well.
