Wow this takes me way back!💕I went to school on this campus when I was just a little girl. My mom was in medical school back in 2003! I’m so happy you showed the shacks I’ve been craving the food sense I left!😅So sad it is no longer there! Thanks for posting this it!!

Lots have changed since I was there. That PBH used to be a hotel. Shortly after I left the island it was taken over by Ross. Rest of the buildings look very new and modern. Hard to recognize after so much time has passed. Much more nice in your video. Classroom 5 and anatomy was there when I was there. Can’t say I miss the shacks. But the “juice man” was great. Is he still in the shack? Who remembers him. Good juices and coffee.

The juice man was my favorite! Went there almost every day when I was on the island. Thanks for commenting on your experience, always love hearing from previous students.

Damn. Brings me back. Graduated in 2013. Miss the island. At the time all I wanted was to be done... But years later I want to go back... The shacks, james store, the barn, even the Chinese place... Wow, good times. I remember my first semester there was a coffee place next to the kfc... I would always get a bagel and coffee on Saturday morning, before going to the lecture hall to study... Good times. Sorry to the locals that the University has left 😢

I want to be a veterinarian when I graduate in am in the 8th grade and I have a 4.7 GPA so far and I'm taking two high school classes. This is 100 percent where I want to go to college but that will not happen at all I live 10 hours away from this place.
@FromD1toDr6 жыл бұрын
Keep going girl! If you want to become a Vet, you WILL become a Vet. Never settle for anything less. I was even MORE than 10 hours away from Dominica, I am from a completely different country...keep your eyes on the goal okay?

It was awesome to see this video again! After Maria, most of the campus and Shacks were very badly damaged. My last memory of Dominica was being evacuated after the hurricane. It was great to see what the campus looked like before it was destroyed.

Thank you for this message Deidra! I am happy it can bring some type of solace to see the island for what it was before the devastation. I am also happy I got to see you In Knoxville this past wknd as well!

@@FromD1toDr SERIOUS SERIOUS Question, how is the dating life for medicine? I know this is not a priority to some, but thinking about it, say i enter at 22, graduate at 26, finish residency in my 30s, many woman want kids and a family and a life a lil earlier. Are these things you think about, and whats your advice to a young man looking to meet a lovely woman who can share my love for medicine? She can be a nurse for all I care it's just something that bothers me thinking about since having a family is very important to me.
@FromD1toDr6 жыл бұрын
Very good question! I think it is important to think about your life plan, other than just your medical trajectory. I was lucky enough to have my then-boyfriend-now-husband with me on the island but he always says to spouses: "you have to work as a team". Spouses, whether it be a gf, bf, wife, husband, have to know that this commitment is huge, but you can definitely balance everything. You need to have those conversations about kids, etc, but I know many people who have kids during residency, you just have to create a plan that works for you and your partner.
