The Top 10 WORST Cities to live in America for 2020. None of these places are in the best states, so there are no reasons to move to them! But a few are near the best small towns in the USA.
➽ Check out our WEBSITE!: fromheretotheretravel.com/
► Best BIG Cities - • Top 10 BEST Big Cities...
► Best MEDIUM City to live in for 2020 - • Top 10 BEST Medium Cit...
► Best SMALL Cities - • Top 10 BEST Small Citi...
► Best VERY SMALL Cities - • Top 10 BEST Very Small...
In order to determine which US city is the worst (or best), I first separated them into different groups based on their size:
Big Cities (Metropolitan population OVER 3 million residents)
Medium Size Cities (Metro population between 1.5 to 3 million)
Small Cities (Metro population UNDER 1.5 million)
We then analyze a few categories, including their economy, crime and safety, cost of living, schools, health, traffic, things to do, and quality of life. I also implemented my personal experiences and the pros and cons of each location to find the worst places to live. There will be a new video for EACH city size group, so be on the lookout!
My biggest suggestion is to visit these cities and states first to decide where you want to move to and live.

I live 45 minutes away from Detroit. Yes, I’m the past 60-70 years it has been deteriorating rapidly, but Detroit is really starting to turn around as businesses are actually starting to move in and many formerly abandoned areas are being renovated. I go to Detroit often, and yes, there are many bad areas, but the heart of downtown Detroit is such a fun place to be, especially Campus Martius park and so many great restaraunts and places to go. Yes, Detroit isn’t the best city, but it definitely is turning around and I wouldn’t be surprised if people and businesses really start to move back to detroit.

As someone who's lived in Chicago literally all my life, you're right, the crime is not as bad as the media portrays it (still not great, but definitely not "Chiraq" level bad, that's just pushing it). The weather is wild, it can be in the 80s one day and in the 50s the next, its insane weather. You get used to it, and it becomes funny after a while, even kind of like an inside joke for Chicagoans, but it isn't too bad (sometimes). As for congestion, yeah, we have that issue lol, and it's annoying. Otherwise, I love this city, so much to do here, you never get bored.
@ladya3302
@ladya3302 3 жыл бұрын
Do you live in the bad, Chiraq areas though or you're speaking from a person's perspective that isn't in the hood? That makes a difference especially since Chicago has a super segregated history. I want to understand because I've heard very different opinions from young men who lived there.
@Senystyn
@Senystyn 3 жыл бұрын
@@ladya3302 My neighborhood isn't exactly what you would call the hood, but it's definitely not what you would call Beverly Hills either. I am surrounded by the worst neighborhoods in the city though (Englewood, Auburn Gresham, etc.), so those neighborhoods and their crime are only like 5 minutes away.

@@Senystyn Every large city I've been to has been like that. I felt completely safe walking around San Francisco at night. I literally walked from one side of the city to the other. Also, what crime stats don't show is that lots of policing jurisdictions fudge their stats. For larger cities, the more crime they report, the more federal assistance they get. For suburbs, the few reports they make, the safer their cities look, which keeps property value artificially high, which keeps tax revenue rolling in.
@tjjefferson3410
@tjjefferson3410 3 жыл бұрын
Oh trust me It's bad. Its just the fact that there's like what 7 million people in Chicago right? If there's 10 shootings over the course id a 3 day weekend it'll get blown up in your local news for views which means money for them. But for the crime It's self Chicago isn't even in the top 10 for crime i don't think. Crime based off the ratio if residents in the city/ town so like for example a town some where in west bumble fuck with a population of 45 thousand residents can be considered more dangerous than Chicago if they get let's say 1 shooting every 2 weeks over Chicagos 10 shootingd in the course if 3 days

Very nicely done as usual. Appreciated what you said about Chicago since I grew up there (in a western suburb). I still and always will have a soft spot for Chicago but wouldn't move back there. It's startling to hear how much higher the violent crime rates are in Baltimore and Detroit - they really are much higher than the other big cities you mentioned. When you mention the subjective category of charm or interesting-ness, or lack thereof like Atlanta & San Bernardino/Riverside, I always agree with you so you should not shy away from giving your opinions. I just recommended this topic to Briggs but I doubt he saw it so the following is fair game: what California metro areas are increasing in population the most based on out-of-staters moving in? Much is made (by Briggs and Nick Johnson & others) of where Californians who are moving out of state are moving to. But California is still increasing in population so I'm wondering whether people from the rest of the country are still flocking there like they once were and to where specifically - LA, San Diego, San Francisco & San Jose per usual or is the immigration into the state more spread out now?

Thanks so much, glad you enjoy the videos and hearing my opinions on a city's charm and character :) And I'm not sure honestly, could be interesting to do a video on that, but I'd assume the big cities. Most of the people moving to Riverside/San Bernardino and Sacramento are from the bigger metros in state and just got priced out of their respective markets.

There's no way Chicago deserves a worse ranking than SF.
@koshea44

I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life and my relatives live in San Fran so I’ve been out there plenty of times. Chicago is worse in terms of violence/murder as well as the potholes in every road mentioned in the video but in terms of overall dirtiness and poverty San Fran is significantly worse. There’s literal shit all over the streets and homelessness seemed to be more prevalent than in Chicago (where it’s still a problem). The people are a lot more rude and just somewhat weird in SF (might just be because it’s in California though). Both have awful politicians/policies but San Fran seemed like a much worse place to live in my opinion. SF does have more tourist attractions than Chicago though like Fisherman’s Wharf which is definitely worth checking out.

@@koshea44 SF is simply prettier. Much more beautiful nature , ocean , weather , wine country nearby. Chicago is very flat and doesn't have sites like Golden Bridge in SF. Politically both really suck.

SF itself is bad but the region is great. Lots of natural scenery, Napa Valley is just 30 mins away and it is a gorgeous wine town. Chicago is just plain drape and boring all around. In addition, I rather cope with stepping on shit than being shot dead walking around.

Adrian G. I would agree in terms of natural scenery and the landscape itself SF is definitely better than Chicago. But I’d still much rather live in Chicago because of the people and the other reasons I talked about.

The Lake + the Chicago skyline is all the scenery I need to be happy. But I'm a Chicago native, so it probably helps my contentment that IMO "flat" = "the default state that land should be" 😆.

You actually have to live somewhere for a while to really understand what the city is all about. Not saying plenty of the criticisms aren’t legit, but they are mostly overhyped and exaggerated
