Born and raised, lived in Chicago all my life. It’s one of the most historical cities. Also one of the cleanest. Walking downtown, it is quite clean compared to other major cities. Being well-traveled myself, I would definitely say we have the BEST food out of the whole U.S. 👍 We do have lots of pot holes everywhere that made me chuckle. Being a Chicagoan, it is very flat here, all urban but that comes with pros as we don’t have to worry much about any natural disasters here. If you like the fast life & city, bars and restaurants on every corner Chicago is for you. Everything is within arms reach. Summer is the best, thousands of free events millions of tourist come to visit to attend. Not a lot of nature, but definitely a lot to do here as far as events and entertainment.

Great Idea Rahm is the worst thing that happened to Chicago. Worse than and blizzard or fire
@stitch61574 жыл бұрын
@@williamwade3443 Rahm Emanuel focused on bringing world class institutions and international investment to Chicago as well as large scale events. He worked tirelessly to expand the core which led to a massive real estate boom, perhaps the most significant in our history and made Chicago the U.S. leader in corporate relocations/investments for 7 years consecutively. He tried to raise Chicago's global profile and keep it relevant on the world stage as the region struggles to stay within the top 5 in many metrics in the United States. Of course anyone can be criticized but compared to Lightfoot who is not a cosmopolitan mayor and lacks any vision or ambition to propel Chicago forward on a global level while she focuses on rebuilding neighborhoods that have seen disinvestment for decades and underdelivers like proposing a casino on the south or west side to prey on the poor she's a far cry from Rahm and developers are running from the ARO requirements so Chicago's one great flourishing asset, it's downtown core will stagnate as other cities greatly expand their footprints.

I am a PROUD Chicagoan and I do have to say, most of these are true, unfortunately. I have always said, this city is not for the faint at heart. If you don't have grit, it will run right over you. But, if you are a "city person", you can definitely live an amazing life here. There truly is no where else in the world like sweet home, Chicago :)

The corruption is bad. Its a good place to visit. For living here, make sure you have a plan and be adventurous. Travel to the North (not just downtown or state st or michigan strip), West, East and South Sides because there good places and deals in each directions. Especially visiting different cities/suburbs. You will be get bored or miserable, make sure its not permanent. We get a lot of cloudy days. Make sure you have a decent support system living here. You'll be okay. If not, you will struggle. I hope this helps someone. ✌

mostly spot on, except 2 things - first, the schools here are actually very good if you live in decent neighborhoods. But the city is so segregated that it is hard to generalize. Second, the diversity of Chicago is amazing. So, I'd say schools and diversity are my favorite reasons to live in Chicago. Property taxes and traffic are the worst.

That's really one of the main reasons why Chicago or Boston don't have more residents, or why many stars or he great athletes don't want to play there, because the weather is just damn bad or cold for more than half of the year. And who wants to play in the cold post when they can play on the beach in sunny Los Angeles?

Currently, I am in New Zealand (have lived in both the North island and South island) and can tell you Chicago is actually the best place I've ever lived. There are many opportunities there. It's affordable, has excellent options for healthcare, there are good schools, always something to do, great food, high salaries, beautiful parks, etc.

Im from Chicago, and I wanted to include, if you expect for a school bus to arrive on time and drive you to high school, think again.
