Tried this for my mum's birthday yesterday and everyone loved it. Just wondering if you can leave out the honey / maple syrup and use extra apple sauce instead? Thanks

I'm so glad you all enjoyed! I haven't tested the cake without the sweetener so unfortunately can't make any guarantees that extra applesauce would result in the same texture (the flavor would also be less sweet). However, if you give it a go, please let me know!

Hi there! While I haven't tested it without the honey, I would swap it out for more applesauce. However, I'm guessing the cake won't be as rich in texture (and obviously not as sweet). Let me know if you give it a try!

I hope the pie turned out! I haven't tested this recipe without eggs, but you could try egg replacer (such as Bob's Red Mill) or aquafaba (use 3 tablespoons of aquafaba for each egg, whisked until thick and white). Let me know if you give it a try!

Hi loving your recipes! I’m on a grain and sugar free diet at the moment for health reasons. If I omit honey, do you think I could sub liquid stevia? How much stevia do you think I should try?

Thanks so much, Virginia! I haven't tested a sugar free version of this cake, but I would suggest trying monk fruit sweetener instead of stevia. I find it usually works better in cakes, and it's a one-to-one swap. Please let me know if you give it a try!
