I absolutely agree!! I hate seeing Lester get out and hobble to and from the gate to open it and get back into his truck. And he has to do it in all types of weather. A big gate that opens with a remote control is the only way to go.😆❤❤❤🙌🏻

Jami, it’s 30 degrees cooler here today than it was yesterday. On top of that it’s a damp cold with drizzle off and on and when I went out to feed the horses this evening I could tell my twenty something year old mare was moving a little stiffly. Drastic weather changes are not a horse’s friend. My gelding just stood and stared at me like the weather was all my fault. If I could have it my way it would be 65 degrees every day with 1\2 to 1 inch of rain once a week.😊❤❤

I’m glad to hear that you’re gonna have a gate put at the bullpen pasture across the driveway. I always thought that would be a good idea to make it more secure when the babies get out or when you let them out because that’s always been my fear too them going up the drive and out. Cause we did have two calves that did that Roman looks so relaxed as you’re scratching his head face kind of reminds me when I go to the beautician and they wash my hair real good and they just get in there and scratch my scalp a little bit. Roman knows he needs to keep an eye on Rita because if you know you know🧡

Good morning Jami, I too would be so much relieved if there was a gate across that driveway. I just knew that Rita was going to take off down that lane and all the traffic that's on the highway😱. I know I've mentioned it to him so many times but he can't possibly read all the comments. But I figured that he wouldn't do it now with the plans to put the horse barn in with the extra driveway through the pasture. But it's still needed because the cows and calves get out all the time... So it still makes sense... Jami do you think that you could try the old dog training trick where you take the harness in one hand and you feed the treats to them through the harness and as you're feeding you rub the harness or the rope halter over him so as to desensitize him to the halter. It may take a while but it really works... And maybe have Lester pull those stairs over to that fence so you can be up higher to work with him... But that trick with the leash works with dogs to make them be less fearful of the leash...👍

Jami, I agree with you for a gate so the horses or Longhorns can go up the driveway. Also a larger gate with remote by the enterence wound be much safer for the animals and you and Lester. I get so worried when an animal or animals are lose. I know Lester leaves the gate at the entrance open often because of having to get in and out of the truck. Roman loves when you show him love. I wonder if he has ever gotten love. He closes his eyes and is just enjoying you rubbing him and talking to him. Both are so soothing.

Yes Jami that is a wonderful idea to have a gate at the end of driveway to close of the area in courtyard. Roman is such a good horse. So noble and majestic... I Love him. I don't blame you for worrying that he could get past the low 3ft or so gate at the end of the driveway. If walking or galloping - easy peasy for him & we just don't want that for him. Could be Dangerous. Hugs across the miles.

❤ Roman! What a gentle giant. I wish you & I could trade places for 24 hours. I would get to love on those beautiful babies & YOU would get to do virtually nothing but kick back, relax and just enjoy life for 24 hours while I did all the feed ups and med checks (worked at 3 different vet clinics). Rita reminds me of my mom who was a red head and did everything in lightning speed & Roman reminds me of my dad who did everything at a turtle's pace, my baby sister & older brother take after mom & I take after dad. Sugar & spice, sweet & sour a perfect combo. When things needed to be done watch out because mom was a tornado, she got the job done in 2.5 seconds & dad well, he was like a garden plant slow to get started but would get the job done. The way Roman gave Rita that "look" was priceless LOL. Dad drove mom CRAZY, so I know that look. LOL I miss them so much.

Love Roman ❤ I feel like y’all need to put it a larger gate at the end of the driveway, because the horses, cows and a few sneaky calves will get out one day. They would be like Day Camp!! I still cry for Sadie and that is not because of the gate. I can’t stand these people who shoot off fireworks because most towns do that for them and shooting off guns, what goes up, will come down. I miss how proud she looked when Lester got there “Daddy!! they are all here and safe and not even a boo-boo!! Love on me and get some food!!’ Praying 🙏🏻 she will find her way back home or you will find her. That was a beautiful German Shepard the other day. I know that dog will find a home. ❤❤❤
