Actually that's what stallions do when one of their mares is away from them. Even though he's a gelding, it's in his makeup. They get very angry and afraid for their mare. He is very distressed.

Beautiful!!! Glad to see Rita is no longer stuck in reverse, lol. Nice little bit of trotting there as well. Roman seemed okay after a few minutes of seeing that nothing bad was happening to his girl. Rita deserves an extra muffin for this - Crandall too... just not a horse muffin, lol.

A tiny bit of tough love will pay off in the end Lester...it should only be needed at first (she knows how to push your buttons & what works lol) but after a couple of times, like you've seen with Krandal, she's smart & wants to please, it will all come together for you both ❤

Lester, do you see the motion Crandall is making with his hips while riding? That motion helps encourage Rita to go forward. When he stops that motion and sits back, she should slow down or stop. Using your ‘seat’ or legs properly is the best way to ride 😊.

Although Rita is a high strung thoroughbred, I knew from the beginning that first time Lester put a saddle on her back (at plum grove) and she didn’t blow up that she was something special ❤️.

Sorry, but I use spurs. For just the reason Crandall said. Ppl use them for pressure to move forward or back or sideways. All U have to do is tap tap tap. Not gouging. Otherwise my mare would do like Rita, just stand there. All I do is trail ride anymore b/c I’m 74. Been riding my mare for 18yrs, she’s 24, and was a former barrel racer.

He’s way too old and he’s not docile enough to make trying to ride him safe. They are lucky to get a halter on him. He’s had a hard hard life working for the Amish and is very old so he will be lucky just to live out is life being a lazy boy. He is pacing the fence because he’s worried about his buddy and he probably wants to be out an about like she is 😊❤

Norma here So happy to see Rita behaving so nicely. Crandall did great riding her and Rita did a great job being ridden. The cows seemed to be enjoying the show. Poor Roman. I’m not sure if he’s worried about his best girl, or if he’s jealous. 😊 Lester, all your patience with her is paying off. Nice to see Marci and Crandall.
