Great videos , they really emphasize having good bait , presenting it well and sticking at it through rough and smooth to get the rewards that perseverance brings. Great presentation and editing too Chris.

Again another great video,lots of good tips...Spent most of my working life as a fishing guide so out in all weathers too .. I do like the approach-small fish maybe but an honest day's days catch...Refreshing to watch rather than heavily edited catches of specimens..Got me stirred up enough to want to get out there and have another go too ! .... Tight lines and keep 'em coming !

Thanks for the kind comments John, thanks for taking a few minutes to leave us some feedback :-) Glad you enjoyed the video! It was pretty grim! I've bet you've been out in some conditions too then!!! Yeah it's tough round are way at the moment, seems to be lots of small fish and not much else to be honest. Nice to see those little fish though, I just hope they survive and come back next year. Hope you get out and manage something a little larger! Tight lines, cheers Chris.

Another good video. Good to see that you caught some cod, even better to hear that you would put any just on size back. There have been lots of small cod caught this year which is a good sign for future seasons. You mentioned the charter boats, well I was out on one from G. Yarmouth yesterday. We pretty much saw cod of the size that you were catching. The biggest of the day was about 2Ib, so it's not just small ones from the beach. They are pretty much everywhere. Well done again lads.
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV10 жыл бұрын
Hi Jez, thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video. Shame about your fishing yesterday, like you say perhaps there is just small fish around everywhere... it maybe that when the crabs come into moult, a few bigger fish follow, but I'm not banking on it! Haha. Might have another trip or two, then focus my attentions on the Smoothound and Bass! The last few years I've had more success targeting them. :-) Thanks again, be lucky and tight lines!

Goes to show you can have nice quality gear but it dont mean you will catch anything decent. I caught a 3 1/2 pound codling of littlehampton beach with a 25 quid rod n reel combo great fun it was felt like i was reeling in an anvil lol but my point is mother nature decides if u will catch or not if the fish are about then u will catch. Fish the same beach a few times at different times and tides and u will eventually build up enough local knowledge to give yourself the best chance
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV10 жыл бұрын

Good show mate, may i ask, why dont you use mussel or maybe half a whiting ? maybe use a single branch ledger rig with a 40 to 50cm branch with 2 hooks like your pulley rig and hanging 10 to 15cm above the sinker ? maybe the length of your pulley rig is too long? just putting it out there bro. Look forward to your next show, cheers

Thanks John, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the feedback! I've never really used mussels, we don't tend to get them around our way! @paulfarmer59259 жыл бұрын
What rod and reel is that? Nice video
@C1dagoat49110 жыл бұрын
nice vid. little tip, the small cods are not called codling, codling is a type of cod what has no dangly bits. (if you want to catch one go to the river thames, I recommend grays at a high tide as grays tides are big and bring a lot of fish in)
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV10 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher Lemonides thanks for the kind comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Small Cod are just called Codling, well they are around our coastline. There's no different in the sex of the fish, Codling aren't a type of Cod, they are just a name given to one's below 6-10lb in weight. Hope that helps! Tight lines and good luck with your fishing, cheers Chris.
@C1dagoat49110 жыл бұрын
no honestly codlings are in the cod family alongside with pouting and whiting and they can all be caught on the river Thames as my video coming out soon might see me catch a codling ( that is going to be my prove, remember proper codling is without a dangly thing and the baby cod one is just a name, also correct) thx for your reply ( im only getting your fish knowledge better) and hopefully I will watch more vids.
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV10 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher Lemonides I honestly don't want to argue :-) haha, but I can assure you a Codling isn't a species of fish, it's just a 'nick name' given to small Cod. If you google it you will find out... the result is Codling = a name given to a young Cod. I also found this on google... 'theres no such fish as Codling or School bass, it's just a name given to the immature fish of each respective species.' Anyway, it doesn't matter I just thought I'd mention it! Tight lines, cheers Chris.
@C1dagoat49110 жыл бұрын
ok I get your idea + I don't wont to argue but I was only telling you my river Thames fishing knowledge. I recommend you if you are going to a holiday in the capital (London) then you have to fish on the mouth of the river thames, lots of rockling, whititng, pouting and flounder
@C1dagoat49110 жыл бұрын
and my next vid on fishing at grays might show the species if im right ( or if not, a cod without a dangly bit in the wrong season) Good luck for your next fish trip ps the tides are coming (yay)

Perhaps you should try a fishing for shark quest. Then you could use all those small whiting and baby cod for bait. LOL Or perhaps you could call it Quest for whiting? No but really man, I would try a new bait. Why don't you chunk a bit of that whiting out there and see what happens. Seriously, isn't there an old saying about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, oh yeah its called insanity. lol

Yeah we do suffer a little bit with a lack of fish. There always seems to be small fish, but a real lack of bigger specimens, certainly here in our area anyway. There was huge amounts of small Codling this year and I think I speak for many when I say I hope they grow on and visit us next year!

just came home after an evening of fishing. Caught about 15 cods, two of them about 7-8 pounds, the rest were about a pound or so .It took less then 2 hours. Released the smaller ones as gently as I could. Would you guys be interested is doing some fishing here I Sweden? Right now is the herring spawning , massive schools are hitting the beaches and the cods are right on the shores. Here in Blekinge there is a world class pike fishing, salmon and the sea fishing is decent two. Contact me if you are interested.
