I am in my late '60s and miss my late husband. My family has always had companion animals including a raccoon who fell down the chimney. I volunteer at a soup kitchen in Canada where I am allowed to bring my dog Kiwi the wonder Peke and where very unusually there is a list of voluntary vets as many people who drop in for a meal are of no fixed address and their dogs literally keep them alive through love. I wish you would include stories that reflect that reality.
