In this video, we're going to show you how to replace and upgrade Range Rover Evoque's brake discs and pads to Brembo breaks. This is a relatively easy job that can save you a lot of money and hassle down the road.
If your Range Rover Evoque's brake pads or discs are worn down or need to be replaced, then this is the video for you! We'll show you how to replace the brakes using common tools and techniques, and minimize the damage that might be done in the process. This is a job that you can do yourself, so don't wait any longer!
Because it is my wife's car, she really wanted to do most of the work on the Range Rover Evoque under my supervision ;)
Changing the brakes takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and can be done without a lifting platform or similar.
We wish you a lot of fun watching & all the best,
Nadja & Peter

Good job, I am just about to carry out the same task on my Evoque and it was good to see the set up before hand. A couple of thoughts, it is perhaps best not to rely on a jack while working under parts of the car, ideally you should have an axle stand under somewhere solid and the weight of the car lowered on to it... If no axle stand, at least put the wheel you have removed under the car to restrict the distance it might fall. Jacks can fail suddenly with nasty consequences.. When torquing, pull slowly on the wrench only until it clicks and no more, or you risk tightening beyond the required torque setting. Thanks to you both for taking time to post the video.

Hi, yes normally I use the jacks for a job like this, but this time I forgot them because the new jack looks so sturdy. All the best, Peter

Hey, this is a great idea to present those mechanical tasks. Nadja is doing all the hard work😍, and Peter stays in the background as a supervisor and camera operator. 🤣

Hi @Dieter Reuter, Thank you! If it weren't for the two brake caliper bolts which require quite a bit of Nm, this really wouldn't be a problem 😄 All the best, Peter

Sorry, I do not wish to appear pedantic, or more importantly would not wish your lovely lady to risk a jack collapse while working on your car, or indeed for that to happen to anyone else watching your helpful video. That is the only reason I pointed out that it might be safer to use an axle stand when working under any raised up car. I hope I explained myself well enough relative to the possibilities of the brake fluid reservoir overflowing. Just about to head out to the garage to perform the same task, and thanks to your video I have some knowledge of the construction of the Evoque front calipers which has provided me with the insight required.. THANKS.

Hi, no for heaven's sake I didn't take it personally and thank you for pointing it out 😉 Safety should come first! Thanks for the hint for the overflow of the brake fluid, many people don't know that for sure! I am happy about any criticism, because even I don't know everything since it is more of a hobby than my daily bread ;) Thank you & best regards from Graz, Peter

Good choice on the replacement Brembo disks & pads, I have run an evoque on the Dachstein since 2016 and LR disks wear out at least twice as fast Brembo's. (I only use them now - they seem to be more resistant to the salt in winter too.)

🏔️If you often ride such routes, I can imagine that the wear and tear is somewhat faster! 😄 I now prefer to use Brembos & Bosch brake discs or brake pads. They are both pretty much the same in terms of price and quality. Best, Peter

I remembered another possible point perhaps worthy of note. It can be easier to push the brake calliper`s piston back if you first remove the cap from the master cylinder. Another watch point is that if the pads have been allowed to wear down considerably, and anyone has topped up the master cylinder to the max with worn pads in place, there is a chance when you push the piston back the excess fluid will overflow out of the master cylinder. That being a possibility, perhaps best if you suck some of the excess brake fluid out with a syringe or similar to save it overflowing..? Cheers.

Hi, thanks for your idea! Yes, it could be done if the brake fluid reservoir was relatively full. However, so much fluid is not normally displaced, so I mean that it overflows. Many greetings!

I'm always surprised when I see people mounting new discs without cleaning the hub surface. After, you should tighten the disc on hub - with wheel nuts but without the wheel - to check if there's no wobbling (with a dial gauge). Only after that you can set on the retaining screw.

Damn, you got us! 😄 We already had a test run so we could also make sure my wife could do it! The brake callipers and the wheel hub have already been cleaned. But yes, we could have said that. All the best, Peter

Sehr ausführlich erklärt! Tolles Video! Könntet Ihr noch die Artikelnummern von den Scheiben und Belägen verraten?
@notthatkindofachannel
@notthatkindofachannel 9 ай бұрын
Hey!

You should not work on car only supported by jack. You should also have jack stands for safety.

Are you sure you have the correct Torque spec for the caliper retaining bolts as 200 sounds high ? apologies if it is correct

Hi Peter, good video and thank you. I did the same job on my 2016 Evoque, the torque, 200nm has stretched and snapped my bolt. I realised that the manual refer to this but on M12 bolt this is very high. Max recommend is 110 - 135 for this type of Bolt. You may need to replace yours soon👍

@@kgalb1602 ... so the correct torque value is 110 - 135 Nm?? That's a huge difference from 200 Nm...
