Nice vid. The EPB actuator works a rod that pushes on the inside rear of the caliper piston. Its touch contact, so pushes only against the piston. When it retracts, it just pulls away from the back of the piston face, it doesn’t actually put any ‘pull’ force on the piston to retract it.

What about bleeding the system afterwards, and is there a sensor reset that has to happen?
@RaymiesGarage9 ай бұрын
no need to bleed the brakes when replacing pads and discs

I think you will find your electronic service tool requires you to press the button to turn the parking brake off before attempting to do it with the tool, That's the way it works on my iCarSoft tool (took me a while to figure out that what was causing the failed error message). Hope that helps...

Many thanks great video, although i wish i came across this video before i tried to replace myself. Didn't remove the connector before removing the calibre and pads and then the EPB self activated and pushed out the piston fully ! Doh ! Managed to get the piston re-engage and pushed back just enough to get new pads back and brakes seem to working properly but now a warning notification keeps coming up "Park Brake Requires Calibration Apply Foot and Park Brake" any recommendation on how to fix/reset ?

Did you not have a wear sensor on the brake brakes , mines come up with brakes worn on the dash , looked at the brakes and still some meat left on them but for a couple of weeks it’s still says brake pads worn how to get rid of this message
@RaymiesGarage Жыл бұрын
Possibily the sensor is not functioning correctly

Curious what a ballpark estimate of the cost to redo pads and discs on all 4 wheels parts and labor. Thanks for the video!

Sorry, I’m sure it depends on the vehicle. I have a 2011 HSE L322.

Getting it done at a garage around £450 - £500, doing it yourself parts only £220
@martinthompson4202 Жыл бұрын
I've been quoted £450 for all 4 to be done on a 2013 RR Evoque, given the time and tools needed to do it, It's not a bad price for all 4

How did you get the electric brake to go back on . Is this simply just plug back in . Or do you have to do from the car
@RaymiesGarage Жыл бұрын

Great video. Once I'm done do I just start the car and put the hand brake back on or is there a special way to do it. Thanks.
@RaymiesGarage Жыл бұрын
In the car press and hold down the accelerator (keep it down) Whilst holding the parking brake switch up (in the engage position) switch the ignition on, off then on. This will put the parking bake actuator back into normal operating position. To retract the parking brake actuator, do the same as above only hold the parking brake switch in the off position

Hi , is the rust normal? 😢I’m about to buy a second hand evoque, I’m not sure about the rust on the brake pads .

It's a nice video, detailed explanation, but I noticed something, there is a lot of rust under these models, is this normal? Or is it too humid where you live?😮

There is no need to reset the hand brake after completing one side , simply do the side , then reset your handbrake

Does the rear brake pad wear sensor need to be replaced with pads?
@RaymiesGarage Жыл бұрын
its good practice to replace the sensor , however if its not damaged you could re use it
