Is it bright enough for outdoor daylight filming?

Its pretty bright, its designed for the gopro. However the battery life is limited, so its more of a framing guide. Note that if you were vlogging, you'd likely want the sun on your face, placing the screen in the shade.

Except for my loved x100v I'm primarily a m4/3 shooter and that fantastic new xt5 camera should have been the new om-5 type of mindset

Quite possibly! Many photographers love the 3 way tilt screens for L brackets.
