Who is the Fujifilm X-M5 for and should you get one?

The autofocus is trash, have a look at Edward's video: RwHU2tbjgb0 I had an X-M1 but sold it because couldn't get to grips with the lack of viewfinder. Therefore this new camera isn't my cup of tea.

@@grahamniven I can't find a link to their channel. The X-M5 has the same autofocus as the X-H2s, same processor, same AF points, same subject detect, so it should work just as well?

You mean Edvard, yeah, I watched his video , the AF of all Fuji cameras have issues when they were introduced in the latest firmware, he is grifting somewhat now on this point. Many folks do unrealistic AF tests, like spinning round on the spot. Who the heck does that? I've done real world tests, sure, all Fuji cameras have issues, but based on the earlier FW, that worked fine, these can be addressed. Watch my other videos, on bird photography, not a person just jumping about in front of a camera!

If you search KZbin for the video ID in my earlier comment you'll see Edvard's video specifically about the X-M5 autofocus in which he shows footage from KZbin X-M5 reviews and points out the issues. I agree Edvard is making use of Fuji AF issues to boost his channel, but the issues are very real and accepted by the most senior levels of management at Fuji. So the Fuji AF issues are definitely real, also they've existed for years, my own X-T3 has been a big disappointment as far as continuous AF goes for BIF and equestrian events. I've had far better continuous AF results from a significantly older Nikon D700.

@@grahamniven check out my videos on the same issues. In some areas the AF is great, but others it has problems. I stand by my point, spinning round like this is not a good test, sure the eye box caused an AF issue in one test, but I've seen as many videos where there were no issues! The new AF update is here soon, let's see what that does.

I'm very much hoping that Fuji can improve their AF to be at least as good as Nikon's. When it comes time for me to move on from the X-T3 I'm seriously considering the ZF unless Fuji have managed to turn things around.
