Front Hub Conversion Kits Are Awesome

I really doubted my front hub motor that I purchased for around $190 back in 2023, but I've really come to enjoy it and it's actually my favorite ebike to ride right now :D. Thanks for watching!

we have a city bike with a front motor and i think two wheel drive really helps in sandy roads especially uphill

I thought brushless motors have more torque

I guess that depends on the torque curve of the given motor. You are correct though; a well-built brushless motor will always have more torque at low speeds. In my experience with small, brushed E-bike motors, they have more torque at very low RPM's, and drop off at higher speeds. This particular build is fairly gutless under 10mph then hit's its stride all the way up to 30mph. Could also be a controller/battery pairing though.

That type of fork is the most unsafe to be used with front hub motors, its experiencing lot more torque at the stanchion crown joints than its designers intended every time you gun it. There's plenty of pics online of them failing. At least keep an eye on the crown casting near the stanchion "socket" and check for any play in the joints from time to time. I'd switch to double crown fork, but that might be pricey. Definitely don't switch to a more powerful controller, that motor can handle it but the front end might not.

Seems to be holding up just fine with the controller it came with. I'll keep an eye on it, but I don't expect it to ever be an issue with the current torque and power available.

They are sort of dangerous for cornering and don’t climb well on dirt.

Front hub E-bikes work extremely well for commuter bikes. They're not really suited for the dirt.
