I agree that the introduction of narrow pinch points between the beach cafe and the coffee cup is not a step forward. The prom is used extensively by joggers and this will cause problems. When visiting A Coruna, a similar coastal city in Spain, I was impressed by a dedicated jogging lane, alongside the cycle lanes. We need to do more to encourage a healthy population and removing the ability to jog or run down the prom is going in the wrong direction.

It looks like the pedestrianised part of the prom along the Eastney section has been compromised by moving the cycle path away from the road. The prom subsequently looks far too narrow in places - which will be dangerous during the summer as pedestrians will have to stray into the cycle lane due to the sheer number of people (and prams, wheelchairs, dog walkers etc) that prom along that section.
