Thanks for the reaction guys! Means a lot! Every exam I went to I’ve gotten above 70% except for C#. Unfortunately I have to appeal to stay in school since I’ve not gotten all the quota’s. I hope they accept it when I get better! But you people all learning online made me realise that if you really want too you can learn it online yourself. So now not all hope is lost if school doesn’t work! When I’m feeling good I have no problems learning and getting motivated. So I’ll get there , and so will you :)

Nice, I'm week into my adventure with html and css so such roadmap is good thing to have as finding straightforward roadmap is extremely hard. I'm also happy that my randomly chosen course from Udemy seems to be made by competent person as he tries to teach not only basics of what is doing what but also just proper way of using html and css so project is easy to modify and very easy to read. And even tho after first week my first "big" project is basic page that at least looks modern i can already see how important it is to make clear and easily readable code if I can see huge difference in such small project for something commercial it must be huge deal.

I would say, when you feel comfortable with building a react app and interacting with apis. In interviewing, you'll start to see gaps in your knowledge that can help you learn so it's good to not wait until you feel ready because you probably won't ever feel totally ready. I didn't feel ready.

I think you should start seeking the job that is according to your level. because it will help you gain experience too. you'll get feedback too which is the Greatest factor when it comes to Learning something and Sticking to it. If you ever think that you should work on your knowledge and skills fully first and then go searching for a job. Maybe through luck you might achieve it and have good knowledge about your work field but on the social side you'll pretty much be a dead meat.

Another great video. Very useful information. I'm weighing in between cyber security or front-end dev. My background is website design and worked as an artist. Front-end sounds like a better pivot for me, but cyber security is in high demand. I looked on Indeed site for jobs. How does front-end developer demand compare?
@jamescross
@jamescross 2 жыл бұрын
There will be a growing need for cyber. I can't really compare them, because I'm not in cyber. There is strong demand for front-end. Before committing why not sample them and see what most interests you. You can have a good career with either so don't base it solely off of difference in demand. You'll have to live with the decision.

Awesome content sir. Thanks for this. I am currently a front end developer using React at work. Would it be a bad or good idea to aim for mobile development as well using React Native? I mean becoming a Web developer and a mobile developer at the same time? Or should I just focus on one path? I see both as front end so I had this thought. Or should I just learn a little backend but not really committing to full stack as you mentioned in your other video? This has been lengthy, I apologize sir but your input would be much appreciated!

There's no hard rule on things like this. If you have an interest in native, why not explore that interest. If you decide you like it better, you can make the switch. If you're really interested in something, there's a better chance you'll stay motivated and get good at it. For me that's front end. For others backend. What really drives you?

Awesome info! I’m barely starting into my journey as a soft dev in college, which language would you recommend that I should start to learn on my own?
@jamescross

This video is the path I recommend if you are interested in building web applications. If you are interested in other types of apps like mobile applications or native applications or games, the path will be different.

Currently working on JavaScript Cert and React.js, looking to be a web dev full time. Personally have learned HTML5 & CSS, C# , Unity (game dev) and Krita for Photo Editor and Animations. I have only build out a few games for game jams, as well as made a project here or there for web pages. Your video is a great path builder and I will be following it pretty closely in the following months to lead myself to a full-time web dev career! Currently working with a company helping edit/build Wordpress pages but want to move past that soon! Also just spoke with another full time web dev and ITS WILD how close yall's advice was! Thanks for the map and keep up the hustle man 🦾🦾😁

Update: Spoke with a couple people. I've applied to about 30 jobs, nothing came back but yeah, I've been told one the average first job is between 100 and 200 applications. Also got some brutal critique on my portfolio which I did need. Seems I still had some ways to go! Currently still learning some back end stuff, took a break on applying for a couple of weeks. Will get back on it in the new year. Merry Christmas and happy new year to anyone reading, lol. Will update again if I remember, but I'm not giving up after coming so far.
