Absolutely loved this place! I visited every year from 1983-1992. Best childhood memories ever

I have a lot of happy memories of this place, more from the 1980s though. I'm wondering if the Fun House got remodelled at some point? Because I don't remember the Joy Wheel being near any windows, and I don't remember the other spinning wheel thing, with the high sides at all. I also remember the vertical slide being wider and without any of those wall behind it. But it's been a long time since then so my memories could be clouded somwhat. Great video though, thanks for sharing. Oh yeah, it was also remember it being called the Cyclone back then, and I never rode on it, something I regret now as I love rollercoasters.

Yes the funhouse was remodeled in 87 after a fire gutted the original "fun city"

I was there the day this was filmed, see lots of friends. The fun house slide was very addictive, once I did it the first time. Very smooth ride with no neck whiplash.

Haha that Kamikaze slide = good memories. Don't believe something like that could exist today... I must have been less than 8 years old but I remember going down on my front. Whole place felt like a death-trap but that was the magic of it.

Imagine the fun you'd have with the Health and Safety Executive if you tried to run an amusement park like this nowadays. Everyone would have to wear harnesses and fluorescent jackets.

The fun house(also known as the slaughterhouse) opened summer 1980. I was the first person to get injured the first day it opened and broke my leg on the after named kamikaze slide, another 7 after me apparently broke their leg/s on it afterwards and there were other injuries including fractured skulls I heard. It got burnt down in 1983 I think? HAPPY DAYS.

I was surprised Frontierland was so soon. We only moved to Morecambe in 1980 and it was pleasure land for a good few yrs before Frontierland - but tbf the layout and rides didn't really change

Morrisons was built next to Frontierland years before it closed Scousefire, not on the Frontierland site. It's closure had nothing to do with Morrisons.

@@stephenduncan3605 Nope, I live in Lancaster and the first boundary stone that marks the Lake District north of us is definitely in Cumbria. Lancashire did once extend into the Lake District but that was many years ago.

Interesting. How did you film on and off the rollercoaster at the same time ? Did you use two cameras, or did you just film it separatley and edit it afterwards ?

Is that right that it became frontierland in 1986 ? I'm pretty sure it was earlier than that as I remember it being like that as a younger child which must have been maybe 1980 at the latest.
@stephenduncan36054 жыл бұрын
It became Frontierland in 1988 after a fire to the fun house. They also refurbished the Cyclone Rollercoaster with a redesigned entrance and renamed it The Texas Tornado!
