I say that because "when a country collapses (REALLY collapses), parents DO start trying to sell their kids- just look at Thailand, Vietnam, India... where the parents sell their daughters into whoredom!!!"- There are MANY documentaries on here about that- just look up all of the vids on trafficking and underage prostitution. Of course they all "say" they never would, but none of them have been starving or homeless from a collapsed economy. Once that happens, you'll start to see that (and young girls willingly doing that because they are hungry themselves). In fact, that is happening already, as you'll see if you watch the vids on that. Also, there are parents already that fight with their daughters over marrying a guy with money- in hopes they can get some too....

This documentary was jarring, thought provoking and humbling! The segment on the autonomous trucking industry and the profile on that hardworking husband(truck driver) and wife was very sobering. The segment on the auto workers and closed down factories/warehouses in Saginaw, Michigan was numbingly sad! I respect the president of that autoworkers union that was profiled. With all due respect; the expresidential candidate: Mr. Andrew Yang has been warning everyone of this since last year! I really believe that this piece unanimously deserves the "Peabody" award and also the "Edward R. Murrow" award for journalistic excellence! Yep, if a couple years ago, they could identify you in 0.1 second and judge you by how confident you fill out forms and your battery strength, what new features will be added in the next few years? I think AI is poised to make this skyrocket, and I think the ramifications of what this does to an open society cannot be ignored; if you think our politics is bad today, imagine what it will be like in 20 years if 60% of society makes the equivalent of minimum wage, 30% lives in abject poverty, and the other 10% lives like Bourbon monarchs... Not everyone knows how to code or has an engineering degree, and those people are going to be left so far behind in the dust that they risk becoming a permanent underclass.

A basic answer, most people buying the toilet paper aren’t actively trying to hide… hackers are trying incredibly hard to hide, doing everything they possibly can, not to be tracked. As soon as you disable cookies and delete your chache the job of AI gets ten times harder. The job of AI goes from catching a butterfly in a net the size of a soccer field, to catching a cheetah in a butterfly net.

Erika8085 I think the engineers know full well that their machines are displacing people from their jobs and really don't much care if at all. Also - IMHO - I believe the world economy at-large has been or is at least now starting to transition from money based as the currency with which to get and sell goods, products, items, services, etc. to being more reliant on AI. At least that seems to be the will, hope, vision and "foreknowledge" of the engineers. An economy starting to resemble something akin to what is usually portrayed in space-based science fiction literature and programming especially in pop space sci-fi (e.g., Star Trek or Star Wars, the only two parts of sci fi that I am intimately familiar with although I have read and seen other sci fi franchises). But all of those economies are at least somewhat differently portrayed (if portrayed at all) in different franchisee according to the whims of their respective creators. Although I think money will still be around then but its total value would have significantly decreased so it would not be used as it is today no matter what form it has now and might have in the future. So at least it would probably not be used in quite the same way as we use it today. So in the future (possibly the next 100-200 years) we could be well into a Star Trek like universe, both economically and otherwise. Just my thoughts.

What I find amusing is the fact that some of these icons of industry like to say, "we have had job displacement due to technology in the past but there have always been new and unforeseen jobs created". There are a few things wrong with that rosy pronouncement: First, they are acting like the technology will take into consideration that "humans need jobs". When the steam engine and then the diesel and gasoline engines replaced the horse, there were no millions of new jobs created to employ unemployed horses. When industrial robots, then AI and finally androids replace humans, there will ultimately be NOTHING left for humans to do ! The androids will in effect be "artificial humans", so if one assumes the software that runs the android is good and the manual dexterity of the android is equal to or better than humans, THERE WILL BE NO JOBS LEFT FOR HUMANS ! Now, many people like to default to, "well, someone will need to repair the robots and the androids". I don't know WHY some people can't seem to make the jump to understanding that just as we have humans who "repair humans", ie doctors, we will have androids who repair androids and robots.

What the Logistics enterprises should do is put the self-driving tech into the trucks and have 2 use cases, but first implement the first one for 6+ months safely. 1. Behind-the-gate dispatching - when the truck pulls into the gate at a logistics center the driver gets out and the software takes over. The truck drives safely to its cargo bay. Then once its emptied, filled, and serviced the truck drives safely back to the gate & a driver gets in. 2. The software still runs from point to point, but with override allowed for the driver behind the steering wheel.

The real concern is how will humans react to it and how will they use it. The real concern is the question that; should we trust our governments or corporations with such power? The power to essentially know personal information about you through AI databases. To keep track of your activities and routine. Can you trust your government with that? Will governments weaponize it to sustain their authority? Where do we draw the line that such authority systems can use AI without infringing upon your rights that your national constitution has provided to you? The real danger is the weaponization of AI itself. Governments have done it when man has first split the atom and turned such science towards the path of nuclear weapons. This also tackles the ongoing social/political dilemma; what should we value more? Our Liberty? Or our Security? AI is a good thing, it can lead us to constructive and economic prosperity beyond our wildest imaginations. But the concerning question is simple and clear: Can we trust ourselves with AI?
