Holy hell. I made it to 28:30 and had to stop. These Frontline interviews are great and so important. They usually get the guests to speak more honestly. But geeze Newt…….don’t do these if you’re just going to BS and pat yourself on the back

I was really interested in listening to this interview however to call Trump metal class is ridiculous. Getting $400 million from your father driving around in limousine going to military school is not that middle class. He also doesn’t hang out with blue-collar workers. I’m an educated Republican woman who does quite a research and the fact that he doesn’t even know the relationship between him and Roy Cohn but he has written three books on him is astounding.

What’s bizarre about this interview is he keeps giving examples of Trump taking leadership over problems and every example is where he’s using city money to build something with his name on it and makes money from it. Leadership in these guys ideology is using taxpayer funded projects to create personal wealth.

One of American society's most significant problems is that so many Americans sincerely believe that America has a Class System. Of course it does not, and it could never have. The belief in a fictional Class System leads to a special kind of neurosis and a paranoia which Trump seems to suffer from in extreme. It's highly amusing to watch him so desperately aspiring to join this fictional Class; and even funnier watching the ones who believe they are in it; denying him. Funnier still; the rapt and devoted attention from common folk; themselves similarly deluded, wishing and hoping for his imaginary success.

If the GOP had chosen a honest Republican as its nonimnee, they would be ahead by a good margin by now.But they chose a narcissist convicted felon. I will never forgive Trump for what he did on January 6. Neither will I fogot his hateful and bullying remarks, his love of dictators, and mental decline as evidence by lack of vocabulary, constant repeating, and simple syntax. I would have considered Haley.

You need to get with the times. The old guard was stiff and without imagination. Haley was another stiff politician in the wrong decade and would’ve faired worse than Romney did in 2012. People like yourself would’ve stayed in the horse and buggy business when the combustion engine was invented.

Gingrich delights in the chaos he helped create - he probably prays for a MAGA dictatorship in America. Gingrich forgets that Trump - the chameleon - was once a Democrat - Gingrich talks about Trump like he is a true conservative but he has shown he would do anything for power - just like the pessimistic Gingrich. Trump doesn't like his supporters, he's uses them and calls them 'basement dwellers'. Listen to him talk with Elon Musk - the two laughing about how Elon crushes his workers or how Trump joyfully bragged about giving his wealthy chums huge tax breaks. That's not the ingredients of a healthy leader or supporter of a healthy society. Ronald Reagan was nothing like Gingrich and Trump - not at all - he was a real Leader - Reagan respected democracy, the rule of law, the constitution and so on. He never fondled the flag like Trump does, he accepted his lossed and owned his mistakes, he didn't put America down or attack the military or the Capital and he would have never stacked the Supreme court. No Gingrich and Trump are nothing like Reagan. Like Trump, Gingrich only sees Trump as golden, can do no wrong, only sees him as a victim, never a pathalogical liar. But when you look at Trump's disgraceful behaviour, his crimes, transactionalism and distain for American institutions you can see what Trump's America will become - diminished, deceptive, weak and hollow just like the dictatorships he loves.
