Got me thinking about these political divisions... this guy "grew up" (figure of speech, I know he's older than that) in the Reagan administration, so to speak. Those people weren't political figures to him - they were his mentors. And I don't doubt that a number of those mentors were decent, well-meaning people. Coming around to see the poison that's taken hold of the Republican Party, something painfully obvious to me for so long, and something he was also a party to, no pun intended, has got to be difficult. The guy has been speaking up, thoroughly. Biggest complaint I hear, why didn't he say this during the impeachment... I ask, would it have mattered? I doubt it. Staying away from political agenda and before criticizing this man, who probably deserves most of it, just try to listen that the interview isn’t about him, it’s about Trump. And the information about Trump is true, yes? If you want to bash him, go to the videos about him and his book, etc. Good presentation. Thanks for posting it!

Being able to truly listen is such an under appreciated skill. You have to listen to, and trust, your advisors, especially at that level. Even if the idea is not so good, at least they will own it and take the time to make it work or turn it into a positive. Sometimes leadership is more about empowering and supporting your team, than trying to do everything yourself or making the focus about you (or your ideas) in a sermon-like fashion.
