And the - "take these pills to maybe fix this and most likely cause 500 side effects you can take these other pills for that do the same over and over forever" , as well as "sue this and that and you're entitled to billions of dollars for nothing", etc etc etc - commercials that are on constantly and consistently take literally 5 to 20 minutes are WAY better, huh?

Kids' cereals these days would never highlight the "sugar crystals" used to make them so delicious :P

Interesting you should bring that up. I hadn't eaten Froot Loops for decades and not long ago for some reason I invested in a box. Hadn't eaten the crap since I was a kid (when Froot Loops first came out) and I thought the cereal looked odd at first. Then I realized the big hunks of sugar that used to be on it were missing. Thought maybe it was old age and bad memory on my part until I heard Toucan Sam mention "sugar crystals" and I realized my memory on it was correct. But, then, a lot of the kid cereals back then were loaded with sugar and they owned up to it right in the name of the stuff. Remember "Sugar Smacks"? And I'm remembering sugar coated rice crispies of various sorts. They really heaped it on. Hell, no wonder we all had cavities in our teeth ;-)

The reason is because parents. They’re gonna think that it’s full of sugar and not healthy and it’ll prevent sales because of parents going around and complaining about the cereal and spreading the misinformation.

Wikipedia says: The cartoon character Toucan Sam was originally voiced by Mel Blanc, using an ordinary American accent. Blanc's original commercials were noted for their use of Pig Latin (referring to the cereal as OOT-fray OOPS-lay). The ad agency later decided to switch to the English accent more commonly associated with the character. They then employed Paul Frees to do what is, in effect, an imitation of Ronald Colman.

From what I read this commercial was from 1963 with the introduction of Fruitloops. My Sister and I were chosen to try different variations and send in forms telling them our opinions, I don't remember the reward, maybe it was just free boxes of cereal with deadly amounts of dye and sugar crystals but I'm here as proof we survived this and sitting in the back of our station wagon, not wearing seatbelts, while our parents motored down the highway at 70 MPH in our '57 Ford wagon (beige).

1963's Kellogg's Froot Loops cereal commercial tells a story about a blue toucan with a multicolored toucan beak named Toucan Sam who lives in a tropical jungle, speaks with an English accent, and enjoys his adventures in several locations with his three nephews and a box of Kellogg's Froot Loops cereal which contains crispy little cereal circles made of oats and consists its tropical fruit flavors which includes orange, lemon, cherry, lime, purple berry, and blueberry. He finds himself investigating a wonderful smell from several new kinds of fruits along a way.

I like the commercial...I bet the children of the time period drove their parent's nuts with the pig Latin, though. I can picture my nieces and nephews had this commercial been running today...they'd be running around talking like that and I'd probably say "STOP!!!". I'm more familiar with Paul Frees take on the character... "just follow your nose, it always knows". I once had a 45 RPM of the character...they were giving them away as prizes inside the cereal box at the time.
