I started Wow very recently and liked the concept of an ice mage. I found your videos shortly after struggling to do any kind of decent DPS in dungeons and low level M+s. Something I loved from the reworks on frost over the years is the more payout from freezes. It’s something that a lot of frost mages do not take advantage of and it significantly impacts their overall. I’ve been enjoying these videos man!

A lot of people like to bind it to Icy Veins to save a keybind if they dont mash the button. Simply: #showtooltip Icy Veins /cast [@cursor, pet] Freeze; Icy Veins you could also make it a cursor macro, but that makes it more likely you accidently press it. If you want it to be cursor then change the freeze line to /cast [@cursor] Freeze

If you mean from classic then m+ and the depth of specs in retail is one of the things that will change your view of WoW. There is just a lot more gameplay to be had in dungeons, and far more cohesive rotations that have high points and interesting things to learn here. Classic is rly fun though.

Hey, so when i was learning arcane there was a weakaura telling you if you failed a barrage cast beause it landed outside of touch of the magi, i was wondering if there was something similar for glacial spike? like it plays a sound if you hit a glacial spike and the thing you hit wasn''t frozen

Does Subzero talent work with winterchill on rooted bosses? There are quite a lot of instances of those, like Gnarlroot burnphaze, igira in intermissions, Volcoross , Nymue, Smolderon burn phaze, Tindral miniburn phazes, Fyrak intermissions)

Thanks for the video dude! I’ve watched some of your frost tutorials and you always mention doing GS > flurry so that GS consumes one of the winters chill, but that doesnt seem to be necessarily true. Idk if I’m lacking haste or sth, but a lot of times when I queue a flurry after GS, it doesnt crit (even having high crit) and it doesnt consume winters chill. Is there any other concern to crit consistently in this scenario? (Like distance for example)

If you’re extremely close to the target the spike will hit first because there’s not enough time between the target for flurry to hit first. I think the distance I noticed is like 5-10 yards - but freeze (icy, nova, frost nova, freeze) applies instantly - so if the target is freezable use your freezes as priority if you’re going to spike very close.

It wont consume a winters chill in the way you observe, it will consume one from the prior flurry projectiles that then gets refreshed by the following flurry projectiles. So at the end, you still have 2 winters chill. Like the other commentor mentioned being too close can mess this up, not because GS hits first, flurry will always hit first, but because the server doesnt have time to register the winters chill debuff before your glacial spike hits. Try it from further away.

Couple questions - when you're double empowered (using your mods layout) when you have the ( ) lit up and the snowflakes lit up do the ice lances do extra damage? Or are procs getting munched? Also in big aoe situations (10+) and you have orb, cms and blizzard up, which order is best to do them in on the pack?

Yeah the ice lances do extra dmg. Orb -> Blizz -> cms

the cone of cold shatters it due to winters chill, and the 1/3 comet storm that isnt part of our cone of cold combo is not worth shattering over saving it for glacial spike

The AoE from the tier set also shatters. if you nova a whole pack you're gonna get a huge blast. I'm not sure if you touch on this as I haven't finished the video.

the aoe from the tier set does not shatter, it does benefit from your shatter since its based on GSs dmg though

there isnt, range checkers are not very reliable in this game because they can only get an approximate distance from you to the edge of the target's hitbox, whereas with spells you care about distance to the center of their hitbox.

Funny how you mentioned Volcoross, I can never seem to get a good parse because of how far the actual boss hitbox is. Do you just play in melee in that fight?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding here but at (11:49) you mention that you queue up Flurry to cast after 'X (lets call it Frostbolt)' and that Winters Chill should activate off 'X' and then refresh on Flurry. But doesn't Winters Chill only get applied off Flurry cast and CoC?

its applied by the hits of both spells, flurry has multiple projectiles between which X hits and consumes a winters chill

@@Nick-tz8ev Winters chills is applied by flurry. Flurry has 3 projectiles. It travels faster than our other projectiles. Queuing it after a frostbolt or glacial spike causes the flurry to hit the target first. Flurry applies winters chill on hit. So the damage sequence on the target is: flurry -> x -> flurry -> flurry. When flurry hits the target, it gets winters chill. X consumes 1 winters chill stack. We still have two after that because the following flurry projectiles refresh it.

wow, just realised I Understood the tooltip of sub zero critical wrong. Thaught the enemys have to be rootet AND frozen to gain from this talent. So I let out this talent completely -.-

Because you dont ice nova before it, you glacial spike -> ice nova cast

What is Chill?

Think of it as a frost related slow, technically the spell effect that actually relates to this is called Chilled, but that is only applied by frostbolt. Frozen orb's slow debuff is actually called frozen orb, and blizzard's slow doesnt appear on logs but is generally the primary contributor to frostbite in aoe.

that shatter stuff keeps me away from frost, absolutely not my cup of tea having to be in melee as a caster all the time...same for arcane... really enjoy it playing demo and bm, being able to stand in range without being punished for travel time or stuff like shatter, at least as fire you "only" need to be in melee for utility.
