you can see where he's coming from on the mini map and react to it if you're good enough, he has like half a second to do so, this might look and sound crazy but we're talking about people who memorize framedata and can time 1-2 frame inputs.

Ethan Concha It’s not dumb because that’s how the mechanics work in Persona. All weapon damage, whether from melee weapons (like swords, or knives in jokers case) or ranged weapons (like guns) is classified as “physical” damage in Persona. And all spell damage is classified as “magic” damage in Persona. In Smash, the only magic based damage Joker inflicts is Eiha/Eigaon (well and tetrakarn and makarakarn but those aren’t really attacks), so that’s the only thing that makes sense to be reflectable. Guns in Persona are physical, so that’s how they’re presented in Smash. For example in persona if an enemy has casted Makarakarn, and you use guns against it, the Makarakarn won’t have any effect. However if the enemy has casted Tetrakarn, the gun will get deflected back at you. This is precisely how it works in Smash as well. Honestly the dumb thing about Jokers kit is the fact that grappling hook doesn’t grab a shielded enemy...that’s literally the only grab in Smash that doesn’t do that (aside from maybe Byleths upB since it’s essentially the same thing, but I’m not sure I haven’t tested it on Byleth)

Nah Leo plays with Dark Wizzy a ton, and probably approached Prodigy the same way. The problem is Prodigy is the best mario at combo into fair and he plays nothing like Dark Wizzy, so he was caught super off-guard and got cheesed for a set. Same reason why Zackray has lost to Myran despite being good friends with Shuton, or why Marss lost to Paseriman despite being good friends with Light, matchup knowledge can bite you in the ass if all you know is one good player for the character.
