First thought on this is it's similar to the hereditary powers of regents in the old TSR Birthright setting. Look forward reading the book. Think I'd have liked to see more spells/spell books an spell caster types. But I've liked your ideas so far so I open my mind.

Well, while the answer to wizard vs heritor was a bit of a cop out, with how varried the wizards can be, I agree balancing is likely not fully possible, and would be case by case who is better. This will likely suit my Gripping Beast models a bit better, and my Warlord Games naked druid I use as a wizard will make more sense than in a frozen city. Currious how this game will be. I mean, I am really not into magic, but love Frostgrave. Let's see what can be done with just a suped up warlord.
