I'vefinnished FP2, and there is a point in one of the chapters that the whiteout/The Great Storm comes. I looked at my stockpiles and thought "Yeah I'm good" and when the whiteout happened the food went to -398 a week and my god, I was not good. However, 30 years of eating soup with saw dust by the people of New London made it so that the hunger was minor.

Plus you might get other debufs from ignoring city situation as efficiency decrease, workforce procentage decrease, birthrate decrease ect.

For anyone who doesn't know, the choice at 22:51 is there to determine the choice you made in the first game. At some poin in the campaign you have to choose either order or faith as the cornerstone of New London (you can't take a mix of both, you just pick one then start getting more and more extreme as you sign the laws). The choice basically determines which faction you start with outside of the new londoners and frostlanders (The third faction being the remnants of the old regime). The choice Thor made just randomly picked between order and faith, and he rolled faith, making his third faction the faithkeepers.

If you are referring to in Frostpunk 2, then I believe that's the 'Choose randomly' option. What's most interesting is that the Faithkeepers are not the opposite mirror of the Stalwarts who are the Order equivalent I'm pretty sure. Because looking at the Faithkeeper's Tenents, they've got Progress, Equality and Tradition. The Stalwarts have Progress, Merit and Rationality (I believe that was the name for the third one). Which has me very curious to learn what the opposing Faction to the Faithkeepers is as they should be Adaptability, Merit Rationality with a different name, if the way the Pilgrims were different from the Faithkeepers holds true. At least when the opposing faction representing 'What could have been Order' appears in Thor's playthrough. Or well, when it appeared if he continued this as a stream. Anyway, that kind of makes sense considering the 'supressed' Faction had to Adapt to the world whilst the 'Ruling' Faction survived through Progress.

The direction this game went may have been divisive in the community, but honestly I love this game and I’m so glad 11-Bit went this direction. This is one of my favorite games if not favorite game to come out this year that I’ve played.

Yeah it does seem pretty split. There's some very respected reviewers who are saying it's a disappointing game. Then others that do like it. Definitely not a universal win like a BG3 or something

Any sequel is going to have some people who are not happy, either because it is too same-y or it is not similar enough. And sometimes both groups would be the same person because they do not know what they want. Never played the first game but I can understand them wanting to change things up since anyone who wants the experience of the first game can still play it.

I loved how they made this different. A few things are not quite as intuitive at first, such as how heat is just a function of how much fuel you have. Not enough heat - get more fuel. But the idea of it being a supply demand scale now and once you meet demand you start stockpiling as a buffer is a cool idea. Makes certain decisions make more sense to put off for later (avoiding spoilers) depending on how you did leading up to that point. It was also kind of cool that the start basically is the end of the first game with your first game character dying. Oh and the pick didn't split your community. The scout basically decides whether you have the Stalwart faction or the Faithkeeper faction and is supposed to be a reflection of how you played the first game, because you had a choice whether to go with order or faith to survive the white-out at the end of it. Oh and as much as you do not want to think about it, the bodies in the oil deposits will come up at least once more after the tutorial.

in the first game my friend had a very successful run. automatons did all the work, n one was sick, plenty of all resources and no one was cold, but the Londoner event was still going on and all but 1 Londoner left the cause to leave. haha it was so funny that 1 lone Londoner in all his pride and stubbiness left a thriving city to wander the frozen wasteland.

I always summarized the first Frostpunk as a "Survival city sim with a boss fight with an amazing track". It was a great experience and I was pretty good with the game, I'm still kind of trash at FP2. Also crossing my fingers for that GPU giveaway, my old Founders Edition 1080Ti is still chugging along strong, but starting to show it's age.

I played through a run of the main campaign and it was pretty cool, but I can see where some people are griping about the 'step back' when it comes to perspective of the building of the city. I like the original and the changes of this iteration. I'm getting into the Utopia Builder, which seems to be where more of the fun might be.

Frostpunk 2 actualy pulled it off and inovated on the first game, taking in consideration the lore and built a relatively new game with new mechanics but still has the same feel as before but bigger. I always love Thor’s videos because he captures the excitement that I felt I lost at some point for games and computers. I’ve tried to capture it again, but I find too much of life has changed and too many other things require attention. I was wondering why I didn't remember seeing this on a stream. It will be nice to see you continue or start another playthrough on stream as well to take advantage of the Twitch integrated voting mechanic that I believe selects users at random from the chat for every vote. Hopefully the goblins can't tie the vote in this case. I remember when I finally beat the first game on a playthrough that only dipped into faith but didn't fully go down that route. I was able to get more steam cores for the mech giants to gather resources and I used satellite heaters to spread things out. I barely used the overdrive function since I didn't know how quickly it would build up. I only ended up using it as a last resort to hold out during the last frost and surprisingly it didn't build up that quickly. Besides the gameplay being fantastic for planning out the city, the music was truly a marvel to listen to with the gameplay paused. I can only imagine the scores they've put together for the sequel.

First, loved the comment about eating elderly, since we will always make more old people, so the elderly are a renewable resource. The part at the end made me think of a clip I'd recently seen where a man of religion asked at a conference the point of the Higgs-Boson, and NdT's response was basically scientists discover, and decades later someone finds a use for it. The thinking of 'how does this put food on my plate' only leads to stagnation.
