I don't feel like Elsa was meant to be Queen as much as her sister... her powers are too huge to be used only as children's entertainment. As a protector of the forest she's able to use them without holding back while giving more responsibility to Anna. It's a perfected version of the already near-perfect ending from the first movie

Why, exactly, is it "unhealthy" to want to go and live in the woods? Have you never been to the woods? It's quiet and peaceful out there, and some people do genuinely prefer that to urban life. It's really not anyone else's place to decide whether or not it's a healthy choice to make.
@artmess4745
@artmess4745 4 жыл бұрын
I think she meant that it's not healthy for Elsa - you know, she was isolated her whole childhood and it has really affected her mental health, especially if you look at her in the second movie. Elsa is happy in this quiet, peaceful environment, but she just closes and isolates herself even more from her sister and family. And that's just not healthy.

@@artmess4745 But she doesn't isolate herself from her sister completely...in the end they clearly imply that they still see each other; what Elsa always wanted was to be free to live with her powers but without hurting anyone, and that's exactly what she gets by going to the forest, but she does this without rejecting her family, so there's nothing really unhealthy in there

As an introvert I think her decision to live in a wood is perfectly normal.^^ Just because we live in a loud world mostly ruled by extroverts doesn't mean being always under people and having lots of friends is "healthy" and a more reclusive way of living is "unhealthy". It's just a choice and neither good nor bad. She was more or less forced into Arendelle's queen position anyways, so she's free now (and of course not ALL alone)- what's not to like? :)

Water having memories, I can buy it. In Greek Mythology, if you take a dip in the River Lethe, you lose your memories. Water is generally the representation of life. Reminds of a story where a girl to a dip in water and saw her mother’s memories because her mother became ice then melted to become water. So ash to ash, dust to dust, water to water.

Is no one taking into account the original Snow Queen story? The Snow Queen lives alone in a castle at the North Pole. Also, is no one taking into account that rainbows come after a storm? There's more than one meaning to a symbol.
@mish375
@mish375 4 жыл бұрын
Plus consider the different religions or folktales of the world that use rainbows: Greeks: had a goddess of rainbows Iris who is a messenger goddess. Judaism and Christianity: God (Yahweh) sets the rainbow in the sky as a promise to humanity that He will never flood the earth again. Shintoism: the god and goddess Izanagi and Izanami began the world by creating a rainbow and descending from it to Earth before they created land. Norse mythology: which concerns Frozen...they saw it as the Bifrost or rainbow bridge that the gods would travel on to visit the Earth. Irish/Celtic: the end of the rainbow contains a pot of gold but is guarded by a leprechaun. Buddhism: the rainbow is the highest state before Nirvana that can be reached. Ie. The spectrum of light is all elements coming together and you being one with it. Cherokee: rainbows are the hem of the Sun. And so on and so forth. Rainbows are seen as an element. I see no difference here. If Elsa's outfit becomes a rainbow it symbolizes the elements.

you remember the original story „The Snow Queen“ from Hans Cristian Anderson, on which is based Frozen? because Frozen 2 took alot from the original story: 1. The River! In „Snow Queen“ Gerda sacrificed herself to the river due to find her friend Kai, who was stolen by the Snow Queen! 2. The Elements! Gerda had to go through 4 stations of her journey before finding Kai. First she met a flower witch, who represented Spring or Air. Next she met the princess of dreams who represented Summer or Fire, and thirdly a raider who represented Fall or Earth. Last was the Snow Queen herself which represented Winter or Water. so you can see Frozen 2 was even more accurate to the original story than the first movie.

I find it funny how all of the Nordic (mythology) references are seen through american eyes. The water horse actually goes way back into European mythology, but especially in the Icelandic mythology, the water spirit Neck, had a horse-like figure (so Elsa is not just a "horse girl") . Also the Northuldra people were based on the Sami people, which are the indigenous people of Northern Europe. Elsa and Anna's parents weren't going to the North Pole, us Nordics don't have as big of an obsession of it as people do in the states (not saying this in a bad way). The producers went to Lapland to find inspiration so some research on the Nordic region and history would be recommended. But it is interesting how the same elements can be perceived in other countries and cultures.

@@weirdal4president825 , *you clearly do not know what "pacing" means in screenwriting/cinema.* Disliking the way pacing was handled in a film has nothing to do with intelligence or attention span. It's about things in the story getting skipped or rushed (not explained enough); it's about whether or not a *"big surprise"* moment worked or not BECAUSE you have to set things up first; it's about characters' stories getting shown or skipped and having their *journey (arc)* feel natural or choppy/not work! Your insults were baseless and unnecessary and a complete overreaction to: "The pacing really bugged me."

I honestly didn't think Elsa completely "ran away from her problems" this time. As the embodiment of a spirit, she belonged in the forest and felt truly at home there with the other spirits, unlike anywhere else. I think she found a place where she finally felt comfortable.

And she doesn't need a ship to travel back to see her sister anytime. And they're not separated for good, because for Elsa its like only living in another part of town that's not too far away. Since this was based on the ice queen, that is what Elsa finally became in the end and found a new purpose without saying goodbye to her friends for good. They'll still see each other like friends and family do.

@horilaw424

In the end she actually isn't headed towards Arendelle, she's riding towards Ahtohallan (it wouldn't have made sense for her to go to Arendelle since charades weren't on that same day) As for the coronation, at the beginning I thought it was because of the creators' original idea to leave Elsa dead in the end (and the statue Anna shows would have been a statue of Elsa), but someone made me notice that actually, that probably isn't Anna's coronation at all, it's just the inauguration of the statue of their parents I still expected that Elsa would still be there to watch, even from afar maybe, but it makes more sense than her not being at the coronation, I don't think she would ever miss that

I can't speak for anyone else but as a gay woman I felt like Elsa was pretty clearly queer coded in this movie, if Let it Go is a "coming out" song then for me Show Yourself is a "You should also come out because there are others like you and me and we can be happier and better off", you can see the happiness on Elsa's face when she realises she's found who she is and where she belongs. I'm not very good at going into detail about this stuff just my personal thoughts 😂

How is it Elsa's fault that her parents made a decision to go to a dangerous place? Plus shut Elsa out of everyone which is why she is now so socially awkward.

I’m so happy with the ending. Frozen is based off of the snow queen story and she finally becomes the snow queen, living in her own little ice kingdom with her creatures and all. Also this movie was a lot more mature. It didn’t have any of those “hip jokes” like “if you write with a bird it’s called tweeting” and “lets make fun of our past movies so we look cool” kind of jokes. I just really enjoyed it. I don’t think Elsa is completely okay with being alone. When she saw the snow memory of herself singing Let it Go, she cringed and covered her face. We think it’s because at the time it was a song about being alone and she thought that was the answer- Elsa has grown from that. I think Elsa won’t be a total loner, but she definitely likes her me-time. At least she’ll have the spirits to keep her company.
