Still using the same frost-proof spigot that came on the house in 1964. Would like to change it, but why? IT WORKS. All i have to do is turn the BRASS handle. When it leaks, I spend $2 and change the washers; like new again. Still can't figure out why I need to buy this and have plastic adapters laying around for my dogs to chew on, when what's been there for 60 years is still frost-free, 100% trouble free and working fine. Far from 'horrible', that's for sure! I've used the new phasic siphon ones too, just keep a hose off the end of one like one should when it freeze and they're fine. Like anything else one gets what one pays for. Except for this abortion.....

AGENT 47 my normal frost proof hose bibs seem to work just fine as long as I take the hose off. Cost far less than this, and don't need a dongle. Regards from the great white North of Minnesota.

The only thing this product has going for it is the look. Three times the price of conventional bibs, proprietary coupler, no flow control at the connection point (unless you buy their adapter) and leaks water with every connection\disconnect. Tell me again how this is a good product?

Any anti-siphon leaks some water when you disconnect. It's actually about 1/3rd more. I consider a good anti-siphon wall hydrant to cost about $60. I would absolutely not trust it not to leak if it was $20.

I like the standard frost free hose valves, Jmo. Also, I never use any type of saw, always just a utility knife. Had to cut an access hole for a tub drain replacement and if I had used any type of saw, I would have nicked 4 wires and one was the water heater wire and 2 copper pipes.

We use the frost free faucets here in Canada. No issues. I usually spray foam the void around the pipe before silicone.

Product looks great idk about aquor but with standard freeze proof hose bibb which seals with a rubber washer inside the conditioned space like most standard if that rubber washer failed and water builds up in the cavity it will leak and freeze and burst as quick or quicker than a standard hose bibbs used with pex which has some expansion relative to the brass or copper used in the freeze proof hose bibb. For reference I'm also in the south in Georgia

i have this dewalt osillicating tool, you can have the blade to cut through dry wall or even metal, just color mark tip of the blade for drywall depth indication, to prevent accidently cut through something behind

All the parts most sustainable to breaking are now in the removable part and it looks cool. Other than that not much. A decent anti-siphon wall hydrant is about $60. This is $90 and you'll still need a flow regulator on the end or pay another $20 for the adjustable attachment.

No thanks..Yea it has the cool factor and may be good in certain home applications, but not for standard house hold owners. Now people need to store the adapters for these things? +ro63rto At 7:25 it twists. It's clear the top two fasteners are firmly in place. Maybe he just screwed the bottom two bare to the mortar? Also you should always use a slightly smaller drill bit than the plastic anchors so they grip really well. This is kind of the nature of working with brick. It's a bit easier with wood behind siding.

I myself just built a cheap hose holding post with a PVC connector running through it. This way any yanking of the hose doesn't destroy something inside the house and has a flow regulator, quick disconnect and a hose splitter on it. Whole thing plus the feed hose costs about $30. You need a drill to make a hole through the post. But it works wonders and I have a place to put the hose on. If I ever yanked to hard it would just break the PVC and cost $2 to fix.

Good tip about getting the hose adaptor- i forgot to order mine. Love it in the north for no frozen bursted pipes, love it in the south on my modern looking home. Nice video!

Cheaper to fix the valve, etc in the case of rare freezing temps than to replace the hose bib altogether. If you're gonna do it, just wait until it actually breaks, which more than likely will be never (unless you live in the snow).

Your entire case for this product was that it looks cool. You cited no benefits over the standard frost free hose bib. In fact, you pointed out all of the shortcomings of this product and then continued to endorse it. It takes a proprietary fitting (that is not readily available). It costs 3x as much as the standard product. The cut off valve positioning is the reverse of virtually every other quarter-turn shut off. You need an extra fitting at the terminal end of the hose for volume control. The connections are made of plastic. I enjoy your channel and have learned much, but this was little more than a paid advertisement.

Not a fan of that polymer connection. Matt mentioned a few weeks back on a water heater video to always go with the brass connection for draining off sediment. And with water heaters you might only do that once or twice a year. So it seems strange to me that he's promoting this product where you are constantly going to be making and removing connections. It is a cool and interesting product. Definitely slick-looking. But I have my doubts about the durability of that polymer long term.

Well assuming it wasn't overly expensive conceptually its nice because you can easily replace the bib. But the type plastic used is quite durable. When Matt was talking about water heaters the brass connection indicates the inside of the tank is metal and not a plastic inner lining.

I would prefer to replace a plastic connector every few years vs the wear and tear a metal connector would put on the internal connection.

+ apburner1 Agreed. But my approach was just to get a PVC covered fence post and drill a large hole through it and attach a metal hose rack to it. It means the wear and year happens to $3 of PVC connectors and I have a place to put my hose. My house has got a vacuum breaker wall hydrant. Now this would cost about $30 more than buying a decent conventional wall hydrant. But my whole rig costs about $10. You do need a good drill to make a hole through it though.

Just use the main shutoff, till you get a plumber to replace the hose bib with a standard one he has on the truck. You can get some concrete patch to fill in the big hole from the old Aquor.

All frost free hose spigots drip some water after shutoff, they are releasing the water inside the spigot so that there is nothing but air inside the spigot. That's how it keeps from freezing. however yes, you did in fact just watch a 90 dollar spigot drip water on to a brick wall. For that much money the damn thing should predict the future or something lol.

I don't like proprietary stuff! Quick connect, whatever, you will be sorry! And don't get hoses with aluminum female collars, they will corrode and you have to cut them off. Plastic is also junk! Brass is beautiful! And nice video, but frost free _wall_ _hydrants_ (where have you been?) are not sucky, IMO. Lady friend called. Frost free wall hydrant (hose bib) leaking. Damn thing goes into a crawlspace, as far away from the trapdoor in the closet as you can get! I crawl halfway there with my stuff, WD40, wrenches, teflon tape, inhaler (!?) and discover that when she got central air they blocked the crawlspace with all the ducting. No way to grab the plumbing to keep nipples or bushings from coming loose. There was a vent in the foundation wall pretty close to the hydrant, so I took that out and still couldn't get tools on it, I could just reach it with my fingertips, so I cut the copper supply and put a SharkBite® cap on it. Same thing with my nephew's place, he was selling it, leaking wall hydrant, ducting in the way! Why do people do work that screws thing up for anything coming later? Thing is, I am not a plumber, just a half-ass handy white trash guy who wants to help my family and friends who are low income. Plus I am old and fat now, and afraid I will have a heart attack in the crawlspace, so I cant undo the ducting and put it back. As long as it doesn't involve going onto the roof or way into the crawlspace I can still do things. I put in a new outside door and frame for my brother, never did that before, it went fine, he was so grateful! I ♥︎ Home Depot. My landlord loves me too, and I get $ off my rent for doing things. Please, if you install ducting in an attic or crawlspace, make a way for people to get in there and fix stuff!

The Aquer is a nice looking product, but I think anyone living in colder environments is going to take issue with your installation. How you seal and insulate to prevent air and water penetration is arguably the most important part of an install like this but you skipped it. I've seem many frost-free faucets freeze in the wall because of bad installations and when they finally thaw it's a real mess.

anyways u should show people every process of installation. i hate when someone just shows how awesome something is without telling u they just rig a peice of wood to make the thing "look" like it screws into the brick. nothing screws into brick unless u drill out holes with hammer drills and a concrete or stone drill bit. i really think u should show the fastening side of the project

Those tiny screws don’t look adequate to secure that thing in place properly. With so much twisting on and off to turn the faucet on or off, that is gonna get really sloppy, real fast, you can already see it moving. Looks like they was designed for new construction and mounting into plywood and it crappy old mortar... I think it looks great but missing proper hardware and the propriety attachments will be a problem for most as well.

Well thats cool and stupid at the same time.so if you lose that hose bib connection your screwed, the connection pieces is plastic so it will break/crack/wear out so you will have to replace that piece my guess more then once. And since you cant shut it off at the house ever time you disconnect the 50 ft hose from your house you get 50ft of water coming back at you.
