Anna stans unite. Elsa is wasted potential used for nothing but marketing. Anna is an actually likable character who goes through believable growth and makes important decisions and is supportive of all her friends and family and yet Elsa gets all the credit for doing basically nothing except having ice powers and the power of instant-dress whenever she feels like it.

At 3:49, when Ginger shouts "WHY ARE YOU NEVER ALLOWED TO HAVE A FUN SONG" I just spat my drink because _right?_ Idina Menzel is an amazing vocalist, but Elsa _come on!_ (They say despite adoring Show Yourself). "Anna's abandonment issues will become like a billion times worse!" That hit hard and I nearly choked laughing. 8:14 - okay, but that would still have been more fun than this movie? Like, I crave slice of life stuff all the time and Elsa using snow and ice to calm anxious critters sounds adorable. -But Disney probably would find a way to fuck it up-... 10:00 - when I saw her do that in the theater, I actually started crying with rage, I was so mad. 12:34 - You know your sister's dead, you watched your child die, you've no idea where your fiance is, you're stuck in a forest you can't get out of-! tl;dflr: I had more fun watching this video abridged-esque version of the movie than I did watching the movie itself eight months ago.

Remember kids. If a little lore helps ground a story in a imaginary setting. More lore is better because it buries the story underground. Never mind if your themes and charicterers are undermined. Just keep shoveling lore and worldbuilding on top to counteract any undermineing. Eventually if rock bottom is reached, and the story is literaly traped between a rock and a hard mantle of planatary crusted worldbuilding. Thats great! Now all the meterial that is needed to actually begin writing is assembled. Writeing what you might ask? Well the wiki pages of corse!

Admittedly I don’t hate this movie, but I don’t like it either. When I saw it in theatres it was filled with kids & teens who wouldn’t stop giggling at every single moment. Makes me wonder if they were all aware of how lore-dumpy, gay-baity, and pointless a lot of it was. Though they were probably just laughing at all the funny faces the characters made. I do appreciate this movie for reconfirming that Anna is the best character however.

I hate this movie for how incredibly dull it is but I think Anna deserve better than this. She’s the one who goes through the most character development. That song where she sings about her depression of losing her sister and childhood friend and deal with her problems, I felt that. It‘s a lot better than Into The Unknown, Show Yourself, and dare I say it, Let It Go because it helps me investigate her character more and see where she goes on next but instead, we have to deal with Elsa’s deep lore nonsense journey and stupid moments where Kristoff tries to propose to Anna. This is what you get for answering fandoms’ dumb theories, Disney. Please don’t end up like Hasbro next time when you make movies.

I think a microcosm of what went wrong with this movie (or one thing that went wrong at least) is Lost in the Woods. Now, it's a good song, good musical number, but it replaced a song called Get This Right that was a lot more fun and energetic and, if the storyboard is anything to go by, it would've had much more cartoonish visuals. But they ended up taking the story in a different direction and now instead of a nice musical number where Kristoff tries proposing to Anna and then she ends up proposing to him, we've got a song where Kristoff angsts about his relationship with Anna. And that fits with the movie we got. Unnecessarily dark, full of angst, and ending on the "separate the iconic duo" trope that's becoming a new animated sequel cliche. At least they didn't give Hans a redemption arc like they were talking about...

It would be great if Elsa turned into a real spirit like a mist or some supernatural form. Arendale got destroyed and then build it again with the Northuldras. The both kigdoms united to be one kingdom to recover their horrible past relationships. Anna became the queen of the kingdom and Elsa freely travel the world as a (mist) spirit

My sisters gave me dirty looks when I said I didn't like this movie and it's nice to know other people see it for the bland movie it really is. I personally wanted Southern Isle's revenge or other magic users, not a hand-holding lore dump. Not to mention none of the character arcs had any real impact on the story...besides, well, Elsa but hers is on thin hecking ice too! Good gracious this movie is a wreck in pretty animation. Oh and I'm gonna say it: Brandon Urie's and AURORA's versions of Into the Unknown slap harder than the movie version.

I do feel that they go a bit heavy on the Lore, but considering that Elsa is the person most likely to be interested in Magic, cause frosty ice powers, I think that her being the living lore dump for the movie is better than it being, say Anna... or maybe Christoff could've filled the role? Man was raised by magical rock trolls. I'll give them this though, I was expecting Elsa to go it alone after her into the unknown song, with Anna and Christoff following in her footsteps to try and find her, and encountering the new characters along the way while Christoff keeps doing his proposal thing, all while them going "Original Movie, What Original Movie?"... so props for it being a somewhat original lore dump? Actually considering the whole 4 elements with a secret fifth element being included... not very original lore dump. Anyways, loved the video Lily.

For how much lore the movie tries for, it's really underwhelming neglects the very things it tries to flesh out. Just, something about this movie holding the audience's hand by over-explaining troupes like the four elements or Elsa tendency of pushing others away, to having so many secondary characters and barely giving them a moment, to just skimming over scenes because they want to use as many set pieces as possible, to referencing the same point of "lore" (seriously, how many times did the battle between the indigenous and white people come up? or the scene of their mom saving their dad come up?) over and over again. This movie has "went through a shit ton of re-writes" written all over it.

OK so 2 questions: 1. Why do you think that the world-building was unnecessary? I thought it was great. It introduced more magical beings to make Elsa feel more belonged (and eventually make her stay, considering she wasn't sure about her place in Arendelle), it explained Elsa's magic and where they came from and it pushed the character arcs further. Without the spirits Elsa wouldn't have found her rightful place, without Ahtohallan we wouldn't have Elsa's freezing and than also Anna growth to accept changes and learn to deal with it. 2. Why do you think that the 5th spirit thing is non-sense? I think It works really well. It gave more reason for Elsa to stay with the spirits (especially considering she fought and befriended 3 of them) and it helped Anna to understand that Elsa's path is different than her and accepted taking the role of a queen instead. Is it because you are confused on the whole 5th element thing? A 5th spirit doesn't equal a 5th element. Honeymaren clearly stated that the 5th spirit is the bridge between humans and spirit, not a 5th element. Elsa later explained that a bridge has 2 sides, which refers to her AND Anna. If you think that the 5th spirit is a 5th element than Anna having no magic and being a part of the 5th spirit wrecks that thought.
