No. Never been to Goodwood, nor likely to be unfortunately. Cracking video. The insights I had never previously been aware of, 'tho have been aware of the circuit (from a long way away) since 1955. Long may Goodwood continue! Wonderful memories shared there, thanks to all.

I drove a Vauxhall Chevette (yes, I know) around there in 1978 while still at school locally, and since then an AC Cobra, Alfa and a Jag (and a cycle race) but to top it all, driven around the circuit by Lord March himself with a client from Honda. Such an amazing place in my heart.

It's actually quite an emotional story - moldering away, and then, gloriously reborn. Thank heavens for Lord March's artistic eye, and his good sense to retain the period charm of Goodwood.

With my fiancee, we attended the 1958 Tourist Trophy event. We flew to London from Ottawa overnight, then in the early Saturday hours, the train to Goodwood. My bride to be made friends with Carrol Shelby, chatted with the Ecurie Ecoss team, while I photographed. We then headed into London to see my old home, and future in-laws! This excellent documentary about Goodwood brought me up to date! Such happy memories. Thank you. Now I enjoy viewing the Goodwood specials on-line. Rodney Maennling Vancouver Island

I presume you mean the new Goodwood. Regrettably no. My only visit was the 1958 Tourist Trophy event. At that time I was very busy with the Motorsport Club of Ottawa, and since then a young family. Sports cars were my other pre-occupation. I do treasure my Goodwood experience and follow events online. Rodney

I was a young sports racing car enthusiast here in the USA when reading of the closure of Goodwood. Little did I know it would be the first in my own experience, of many closures that happened one by one.. So many places of great history erased, now under commercial buildings, residential developments, and on one case outside Eugene Oregon, a massive landfill. Wonderful that Goodwood came back.. I may never visit in person, but I applaud the efforts of so many to make it happen. With online coverage of events, Goodwood has become the track for enthusiasts around the globe. Bravo!

This was a fantastic program. Great images, both vintage and current, and sound track, including engines sounds, commentary and music. SUPER JOB. My two sons and I were most fortunate to be able to attend the 2000 FOS, an event we shall always remember. Many many thanks to everyone who makes such events possible. Without all the volunteers, it would never be possible. It is much better to see those great vehicles on the track than only being displayed in a museum. Happy motoring.

I lived in Chichester from '64 'till '68. Goodwood was my local track. I remember seeing Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart and Derek Bell race there. I also remember after it was closed and was used for testing, I would be at school (Lancastrian School for boys) they had the windows open during the summer and I could hear cars at the track. As soon as school finished I'd be on my bike and over to the track to sit on the bank opposite the pits to watch. Great memories!

I first attended club meetings from about 1964 onwards (I think I still have some programmes!) seeing the likes of Derek Bell, John Miles, Doc Merfield (Cortina V8), Mick Cave (Austin A40) and Rob Widdows etc honing their craft and I then came back in the late 70's to attend the Winfield Racing School. I thought I caught sight of a couple of the Winfield Tiga FF's in the documentary and I did have a few races with the school before the money dried up! In the early 80's, I was back at Goodwood racing my BMW 2002 in sprints. My one and only photo of my many very happy hours spent bombing around this wonderful circuit is of my BMW slightly opposite locking through the old chicane. I do so wish I was back in those carefree days - oh to be young again!

What an absolute masterpiece, seeing one of the most iconic tracks in British motor racing being recuperated to the same specification that was first built, of course with a few big improvements just outstanding. The work that is being done in last two decades to bring Goodwood to the same level that was in old days, has been quite remarkable. Congratulations for bringing again the best revival meetings in the world, the level of the drivers and the races just shows why it's an amazing event.

Lovely video - many thanks. I remember Goodwood as the wind swept over us whilst testing with Aston Martin. I was there as a lowly apprentice with my mentor one day. He was a great character from the pre-war Bentley days who had moved with W O Bentley to Aston Martin. He had a great capacity to test for any misfire by taking off the plug leads in turn and put his finger in each in turn to locate the weakest!! unfortunately he had a habit of grasping anyone nearby and, through their screams, calmly ask what they thought........ On this occasion I believe the Duke of Edinburgh must have been staying at the house because he appeared and Fred new he would try and blag a drive. We were on our own warming up the engine so Fred quickly pulled off a couple of plug leads to create a misfire and render the car unfit to drive anyway. The Duke was interested in what we were doing and so came within Fred's range....... he was inching toward prince Philip when, thank goodness, our boss Reg Parnell appeared and, knowing Fred's tricks, wagged his finger at Fred mouthing NOOOOO.

What a lovely tribute to the past! As I watched it, I had flashbacks to circuits in the US Midwest where I raced from 1965 until '69: a great amateur circuit called Lindale Farms, a few miles west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, in West Allis (suburb of Milwaukee); and old Meadowdale International, near Carpentersville-Dundee, Illinois, which had the best pit facilities I'd ever seen: rest rooms and showers below the pagoda, stalls perpendicular to the main straight, with water taps every two stalls, with covered stands above. Most are gone now, except Road America, near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, which has changed so drastically that seen via helmet cam, I don't know where he was on the track. Oh, well, we have our memories and this channel. Thank you, gentlemen!

Thank you for posting this. I had booked tickets for last year's Revival meeting, but 2020's shenanigans put paid to that trip. Being involved in motorsports here in NZ as a volunteer since the mid 1980s (sadly on and off due to health), it is wonderful to see what has happened with the development of Goodwood circuit. Hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to travel to the UK and finally see a Revival meeting and pay tribute to my hero, Bruce McLaren. Best wishes from NZ.🇳🇿 Stay safe and keep racing.🏁

You. like me, are shedding tears of joy. How many people's dreams have come true because of their endeavours.? How many people have spent their middle weekends in September wallowing in the greatest annual recreation of motor racing's 'Good Old Days' in the world? (15 of them , in my case.) How many people have taken a Magical Step Back in Time and discovered a piece of England where they can - for a spell, at least - get away from Internet scams, party politics and plastic people. There has NEVER been a better example of 'getting back what you put in', so let's raise a glass to His Grace The Duke of Richmond and every single person involved in the the revival of the Revival. It took over ten years of hard work, but 22 years of joy (and counting) are the legacy....

In the eighties i used to marshal at club events at the circuit , you could hire the track for the day for £250 ! (airfield fire tender was extra ) There was no races as such , but were timed trials cars setting off at set intervals so less chance of overtaking another car which would infringed on the rules so far as "racing " went

I've never been to the revival, but its the only circuit besides Cadwell, Brands and Oulton, maybe Donnington at a push (all of which i have been to many times) that i think is exactly how it should be. Circuits like silverstone have been ruined by constant redevelopment and trying to improve something that doesn't need improving, they've improved it so much they've ruined what it is actually there for. I've seen footage of lotus testing the 49 at silverstone and it looks marvellous, with Chapman and Graham hill arriving by aeroplane, but now its an atrocious mess for cash cows, its not for motorsport enthusiasts anymore. I don't want f1 to ever leave silverstone, after seeing what its done to silverstone i don't want to see more circuits ruined the same way. Id love to go to the goodwood circuit, it looks just like a circuit should look, its a circuit and a circuit only. Its a rough diamond, it hasn't been polished until there's nothing left. I'm glad they restored this circuit rather than build a new circuit in its place.
