Most people call "slippery pot pie" "chicken (or beef) and dumplings" and I'm assuming your chicken and waffles involves shredded chicken in chicken gravy poured over a plain waffle. That's how my mom, who was from southern central PA in large Mennonite areas though she was not Mennonite herself (strong cultural influences exist), made both. We probably shouldn't tell them about hog maw and hominy-n-pudding...though R&L should try all of those on a future show.
