Advanced tutorial on setting bridge strings height how to setup your Stratocaster or setting up a Strat or generally adjusting the action and strings height on your electric guitar. By Luthier Galeazzo
Setting up an electric guitar or bass guitar is needed when your guitar neck is not comfortable as you need it.
Adjusting the string action makes your guitar much more comfortable to play and just need an Allen key or a small screwdriver to be done.
Frudua explains how to adjust string height in simple terms through a series of guitar tricks that can be understood by anyone even if not an expert.
The video includes hints a tips on how to setup action, how to perform guitar action adjustments so you can adjust your guitar action by yourself and learn how to set strings height in a while to get to the action that is more comfortable for you.

I’m a professional luthier. This is NOT a guitar setup! Don’t listen to wankers on KZbin, take your guitar to a reputable guitar shop and have it set up correctly if you don’t know what you’re doing. Unless of course you have no sense of pitch anyways and wouldn’t know a well setup guitar from a crappy one. 🤦‍♂️

It's impossible to achieve perfect results every time without understanding how things really work, so thanks for sharing the knowledge, Galeazzo! It's nice to know all the tricks in the trade as well, so thanks to the commentators. The more knowledge the better. Players who have flawless technique and total mastery of the instrument, can (and should) be very hard to please. That doesn't mean they're impossible to please. I guarantee only a handful of people know how to make the final tweaks on their guitars to make them play perfectly. (And of course, good strat action includes just the right amount of "fight".) Setting up decent action takes like five minutes, that's just too easy. The nice tricks that people have been talking about here tend to fall in the next category: good results with high-action-low-feel and medium-action-high-feel. That's good. But ladies and gentlemen, if someone would give you a guitar that has the action of extreme comfort on every level - balance in all areas - set up by a pro's pro.. I promise you would notice the difference. Let us learn from Galeazzo and appreciate his helpful instruction!

Ok so I have tried this method as well as the method mentioned by some viewers to use a credit card at the 12th fret. Guess what ? On both occasions I ended up with low E being 2mm above 17th fret and high E 1.6 mm, which is exactly the measurements recommended by fender. I used feeler gauge to measure the action so it's pretty damn accurate.

Maybe i should swop it for a Clapton Strat! Thanks for your help. Tony

But I founded one of those Stratocaster from years "80" near by trash and I tried to make it sounds good again. Looking at your video I understood why my "bends" were not good. Fretboard and frets are in perfect renovated condition but "bends" were unpleasant under fingers. Thanks to your very good video i was able in a couple of seconds to get reed of this trouble. This poor little thing sounds now fire of the hell. I love it ! Thank you very much again.

I'd recommend setting the action for E6 string by bending below 12th fret, say 9th to 11th, this is where the curvature of the board affects the bends most; meaning even if you have clean bends at 15th fret - as in your video - you may still have fret-outs for like bends on 9th fret. That has been my experience. This is of course a function of relief as well, the less relief - the straighter the neck - the more pronounced 9th fret fret-outs.

Guitar action is pretty well dependent upon how even or uneven the fret heights are, and how low or how tall the frets are in general. The smaller the fret in height, the higher you need to set the action, so that you can get some finger under the string to be able to push it up over the fret. But of course, if you do not bend, then you can drop the action down fairly low, but again, dependent upon the equal height of all the frets.

The radius of the strings depends on the playing style on a strat. Will you make bendings or not? Hard or soft bendings? Are you a player that strums hard on the lower strings (rock heavy rock or punk)? Your playing style influences which radius you will have to use on your strat.

Andy Dempster haha as an American, things like this piss me off, I agree. all these silly things that are abbreviated to make things simpler make it very difficult for folks who are learning from scratch. for instance: Americans= Half Step Everyone Else = Semitone I understood way better what it was by the latter.. i know this is a small simple thing as an example but i think we all agree its a microcosm of more advanced scenarios where this is a problem. i need to know exactly what things are and how they're supposed to be learned or else i merely only know answers but don't understand how and why things are. its not the result or the correct result, its the process and the wrong AND right answer or result. we're breeding tired stupid morons by trimming things down with acronyms and shortcuts to memorize things that we should be EXPERIENCING. Poor school system everyone. i apologize btw if i am off bass and a bit off topic but its just ironically something that's been on my mind. haha

I would say you are a very excellent teacher. Thanks for this video now I know what I’m doing. I’ve been playing guitar for many years. But now I am learning how to do. Bridge work and neck work. Thanks so much now I know how to perform this procedure.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😁🎸🎸❤️

It's also called...where in the hell did that little tool disappear to?? I tape mine to a bigger screw driver that I use for the intonation adjustments.

This is eye candy for me. I would rather watch than porn. Thank you sir. I was going to adjust my strat when I saw some rust around the screws. I live in the tropics so I live with rust. New strings sound good for about an hour. I was going to put a little WD40 on, make sure it all moves. .

WD40 is my go-to for keeping strings alive and prepping the neck&strings for playing. I don't have the same level of humidity as you by the sounds of things, but I count WD40 as one of my secret weapons for a great feeling guitar.

save time just give your mm height of each string at the last fret. to show your adjustment is valid and practical, give a comparison sound of before and after. otherwise its all blablabla

Actually, there are a lot of people on youtube who make videos about adjusting the instrument properly. But often I have to ask my self if the guy really knows what he's talking about. I dont have this feeling when I watch your videos! You seem to know your stuff very well =) Thanks a lot! Keep on making such videos!!!
