Frugal Living Saving Money, Preserving Food, Strawberry Bread, and a Surprise

Since we grill with charcoal (to be frugal) I will grill a bunch of hamburger patties, chicken, pork chops and hot dogs; I also quick freeze them each individual and when someone want to quick meal they zap in the microwave and they taste like they just came off the grill. Talk about saving money and time. I’ve been doing this for 20+ years.

Speaking of Burger Paddies. My German granny made them with added sandwitch bread soaked in milk or water (press the water/milk out when soaked) and add an egg. That way every thing will stick together. But there goes your filler. No crumbs needed, just work it in.

I so enjoy your channel and love finding past vlogs that I haven’t seen yet, like this one. It feels like finding a cookie in a bag I thought was empty! For strawberries, I freeze the washed strawberries with the stems on and cut in half or quarters. The stems are another edible green for a smoothie. I like them with the greens especially if the strawberries are organic.

Oh my goodness, that strawberry bread looks sooooo delicious. The strawberry quick bread looks delicious and very fast and easy. I went out for routine labs today, so I ventured into Kroger’s (Fred Meyer) for the first time in a two weeks. I got strawberries ($2.99/2 lb), raspberries and blackberries (both $1.50/6 oz) to mix in yogurt. Some prices surprised me (rice $6.99/2 lb), but Kroger butter was on sale for $1.99/lb and there was plenty of meat, bread, dairy and produce.

I was at Walmart today and green peppers were 25 cent each on manager special so I bought 10 and I am freezing them sliced for fajitas😋I add black beans to my ground beef for tacos and nachos🙂I can make at least 8 meals from a whole chicken plus I use the bones and make my own stock and make chicken soup with it!I did get avocados also on manager’s special for 15 cents and there was nothing wrong with them!My question to you is have you ever froze avocados?I bought 10 so I hope I can if not hubby and I will be eating lots of dishes with avocados!😂Thanks for a great video👍

Please enter me for one of those glorious centerpieces! Winter was sooo long and then everything...well, you all know what's been going on the last few months. We could all use a beautiful bit of cheer! I got 12 lbs of strawberries last week on markdown, .99/2 lb package. We ate a whole bunch but I sliced most of them thin and dehydrated them. Once they were just nice thin little strawberry chips, I put them all in a freezer bag and into the freezer they went. These dehydrated slices are fantastic in the fall/winter on cereal. A little goes a long way, and dehydrating them means they take up very little room. So that's just what I do when I can. Tomorrow I am trading someone a bunch of my blackberry bushes for some raspberry bushes. I look forward to fresh new fruit next summer!
