The basic definition between cheap and. frugal. A cheap person will buy anything, regardless of quality,so long as it is low cost.meaning more often than not, tons of useless junk they replace several times per day. A frugal person looks for the best value for the price, and will pay more up front for items, because it will save money in the long run.

It’s nice to be reminded that you’re not alone when it comes to frugality. Thank you! I was raised by my grandparents on a fixed income and learned so much from my Mommom about reusing and repairing things....or finding a different solution with what you had on hand if you couldn’t afford to replace the item. You’re right about having to get creative! I see beauty in things that are weathered or show some history. I was also made to learn how to make foods from scratch. Growing up , a lot of my clothing was made by hand and at the time , I got made fun of...looking back , I wished I were more appreciative of those clothes made out of love...I feel like a lot of people my age missed out on so much and it’s nice to see people talking about these things. I’m thankful I was adopted by my grandparents and miss them everyday. I just found your channel and love your videos ! Wonderful message! Thanks for sharing all of your great tips! The lo mein looks so delish! You can add a little hoisin sauce if you have it in your store. It’s a little sweet and savory, then you can use less soy sauce and sugar. I use pretty much your same ingredients to make fried rice. Use leftover steam rice, skip the chicken broth, peanut butter and corn starch. Chop the veggies to smaller pieces, add one scrambled egg per serving in hot pan with oil, add rice , keep mixing rice and egg, use spatula to separate rice and break down egg, continue to cook like what you do on lomein and dash of chopped green onion at the end. You can use this method on cooked elbow macaroni too. I’m like you, less oil and sodium in food. I’m Chinese living in US for 40 yrs, a lot of my cooking style is east meet west, creative in frugal ways. Just a hint, add the drizzle of sesame oil during last toss if Paul likes the fragrance.

I am humbled by so many things, I am blessed to have a roof over my head right now but I never take anything for granted, I have been homeless when my son was just a child. I promised myself I would never let that happen again. So far I am good for my word but who knows what the future brings never take anything for granted! Always be grateful for everything you have even if you don't have very much! Stay safe and healthy and may God bless you always! 💞

A very clever friend gave me this great tip. NEVER NEVER buy BBQ sauce. Her method is if it is red, brown, or yellow, put it in to make bbq sause...... ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, molasses, yellow onion, garlic.......... This system works! I make big batches, and freeze into single use portions. Paprika and dry mustard or cayenne pepper are added variations!

I once told my brother he was tight. He replied he was frugal, there's a difference. He explained frugality to me meaning at sixty I began to give my money the treatment it deserves. Now before I hand over a hard earned dollar to someone else I consider whether I actually need what I was going to pay for.

My quest right know is new dishes. I like Corelli dishes in white . I have priced them and I don’t want to pay the price go or new. I went to our best thrift store in town and I found a set of 4 for $5.00. Plus 4 small plates for .99. My daughter collects the Pyrex in Butter print and I go to look for her. I don’t use plastic storage I bought 2 sets of glass storage. I have retired and make more money retired but my expenses have gone down so I have got money put back if something comes up. I bake from scratch and cut out preservatives and feel good about it. I am finally getting around to remodel and redecorate my house. I go to the thrift store and dollar store and make what I want. It is a choice you are right about what to spend your money on. Looking for sales knowing what colors you want. I found a $70 bed spread for $19 on clearance. To make vases for the bedroom I had 3 tall candle containers and paint that matched . Only for artificial but with my granddaughters help she filled up the vases.

I see from your background , that you enjoy vintage items. Cute! $1 for your blouse? Wow! Score !!! As a widowed Mom of 2, I am doing well so far, but am always looking to make sure I will continue to be financially ok for my future, and the future of my children. Today, our country's future looks extremely grim. It is so very important to protect ourselves the best we can, especially being financially secure. tfs 🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵🍁🍂🍃🦃🍁🍂🍃🌵

I love this so many things that you've said make so much sense. I used to say when someone would ask me for money I used to say no I'm broke I'm broke then when I used my money for something else they would get mad at me and call me a liar then I had to figure out I was a I had to learn how to say I am choosing to spend my money on something else I am choosing to save my money for something else because I don't want people to think I'm a liar. But I also don't want to just hand my money out for frivolous things that the kids want to go do or grandkids or hopefully that made sense sorry I ramble about too much but I love everything you're saying I agree 100%.! Those traits are exactly correct. Not only correct, but soothing. It was relaxing and peaceful to listen to them for affirmation. SO excited to try something new in our frugal journey. We're going to try to shop weekly. This will help me be able to better manage the fridge and freezer and REMEMBER what we actually have. I looked over the ads and came up with some meal ideas. It's also the week that our Kroger has their major deals on canned goods, pasta, cereals, all kinds of things. so I made a budget for our regular shopping AND a budget for our stock ups. So far I'm looking to be way under budget. My stock Ups, I'm giving myself $80 on for the month, and right now we're only at $45 for Kroger. There's an app called Ibotta that is doing a rebate on a Thanksgiving dinner. So that dinner (which was going to come out of our $80) is practically covered. Today is my little guy's B-Day. We're going to have frozen pizza, popcorn, soda (free in our Thanksgiving dinner haul with Ibotta), and candy we got on sale at our Kroger. He's going to be 4 and will absolutely love this! Also, I got an email last week through Nickelodeon and signed him up for their birthday club. He's going to get a phone call from his favorite character on Paw Patrol. We're planning a day to just relax together, play his favorite board games, sing his favorite songs, and it's mostly free! I'm going to have to try this recipe, my husband loves lo mein!

You sure are insightful! Your philosophy is so in line with my own and it makes me feel good to hear you speak out on this subject. My husband and i have been frugal for years and have been teased or laughed at many times. We have always had most of the things we needed or wanted, but we have never really wanted much. We have, over the years, bought and sold 3 homes and many vehicles and we have no payments. We now own one home and 2 vehicles, free and clear. No credit card payments either. We also do not have fancy toys or extras , nor do we take fancy vacations. Yet we are very content and thankful for all that we do have. To my thinking, that is a successful life on a very modest income. Thanks to you both for all you are doing!!

Thanks for the recipe! I don't eat meat but I think for vegetarians, just substituting some chickpeas instead of the chicken would be very good. I made some chili this last week and my wife wanted some spaghetti so we just did a Cincinnati type chili with the chili over the noodles! It was so good-- so I am happy to find you using spaghetti noodles as I think they are such a good meal idea and sometimes one wants more than just red sauce.

Oh what a great idea to put the chili over the noodles! It’s great to use what we have and it’s surprising how many times it turns out to be even better than we thought! Thanks so much for watching Tanya!

Thanks so much for this video. I actually made something similar recently, but I see some good ideas to make it better. Is your sesame oil toasted or regular? I see that it is Japanese. Also I have been enjoying your videos for a few months (one of my Covid finds). I have been unemployed so learning frugal tips is so helpful right now! God bless you both!

I just got us a huge shopping cart because its a need.it was $40 at my local hardware store.yes, they did have smaller ones, but they were very flimsy, and way more, plus not practical for us.there would be no way cat litter would fit in those dinky carts,or cat food. So,rather than pay over $100for a useless cart,i paid $40 for one we can actually use

Absolutely amazing ideas . I never waste a chicken. I’m the main meat eater in the house,so it’s not often I actually buy a whole chicken. Utmwhen I do,I go to town.i get one or two roast dinners ,then il turn the rest into other meals the next day and freeze them.i actually have. Chicken thighs to cook.only three but they are decently sized.il enjoy them, the cat will get a meal and I plan to use the rest ,In my head I have festive slices in mind, using chicken, stuffing I can do with breadcrumbs, cranberry and port jelly,I probably leave out bacon,as I won’t thaw a whole pack just for that, but that’s pretty much a festive slice(or pasty,we call it here in uk) . Uhm,I’ve had two festive meals this week. I had bake at home baguettes(so cheap) and had leftover bacon that needed using,I had bought a packet of turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauce- I just made festive baguettes. I had turkey still in packet,I had cabbage that was half used, needed using and added the last two carrots in the fridge,a few pots ,some cheap gravy granules and I had a turkey stuffing roast . Absolutely fabulous. It’s so good to utilise what you got on hand . You can never go wrong in this. Much love sent 💕🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I was just thinking tonight about how we're all having a time with some of our shelves bare, and having all these rules about masks in public. Our parents and grandparents and great-grandparents lived through WW and the Depression and somehow made it through with less food, less toiletries, less clothing. We really need to get back to that mentality, and we could be so much happier. My grammy came from a big family and her mom died when she was young and her dad never remarried, btu he raised his kids up, some were a bit wilder than others, but they all grew up to be respectable citizens with families and jobs. Grammy would tell me about how they would go to school with buttered biscuits as their lunch. SOmetimes they would have some ham or bacon since they raised pigs, but it was usually just a biscuit with butter. They didn't have much but they were happy and didn't starve. Grammy knew how to stretch a dollar. She said always pay your bills first, then your food, then if you have anything else, then you can splurge. They may not have had the best of things, but they were always fed and kept a roof over their heads.

When I was growing up my parents would take us out at a Chinese restaurant about once a week. We would always get the family dinners, 1 from column A and 2 from column B. We loved our weekly Dinners. My sister was dating someone and he brought her to a Chinese restaurant. He ordered a soda and my sister told him that she never knew that restaurants sold soda. ShopRite sales in NJ for the coming week Red peppers .99 Chicken breast 1.77 Golden pineapple 1.97 Asparagus 1.99 Pomegranate.99 Aruj dried chickpeas 1.99 for 2 lbs 5 count avocados 2.99

Hi Emmy Is it just me or does a frugal mentality seem like a diet? We just persevere but if we fall off just get back on tract🤣. I have the idea that frugal is the long term, just need to put that concentration on having my thighs get smaller. That noodle dish is fabulous even for my new get smaller thighs diet. Love your explanation of the lifestyle so true. I am so like you and can't wait to tell my sister when I save or find a bargain. Cheers
