I have recently built my own vacuum system and have become impressed with the holding power of vacuum. A bleeder valve is handy

Very interesting Billy, I wasn’t aware of vac chucks for lathes. Looks like a great addition to the lathe. Cheers Steve

Thanks, Steve! It sure is! Can't believe it took me so long before I made them! Billy

I have to say this before I forget. You might look for a little valve (can't remember what they are called) that has a knurled nut on it. I have little brass ones in my copper air lines plumbed around the shop. They allow me to bleed the moisture out of the system. They are just small and I bet you could just drill a hole in your Corian fittings and release the pressure right there at the lathe. Just a thought, wish I had better info. This was an interesting build, Billy! Looks like it's going to work a treat for many years to come. Great job! Phil

Thank you, my friend! That could work. I'll look into it. Billy

Well done buddy. I would check that gauge against another one to be sure it is reading correctly.

Just started getting parts together to build my system, ver6 happy I ran across your video. Wanted to use some Corian I have handy, but couldn’t find if Corian would take threads. Hope to start first chuck this week and it will be out of Corian! Thanks for the video

Looking good there Billy. Seems to work great. Can you add another T-valve so you can have a line to each lathe? Short one for Big Boy? I did that for an air line over to my milling machine. So I can switch from one to the other or leave them both open. Maybe one I see this in use I just may have to have one! LOL Take care, Gary
@TheMessyStudio2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Gary! And thanks for the tip! Maybe, but for now it's all good. I won't leave it hooked up anyway. I plan of showing it being used on two bowls soon as a review. Billy

hey billy, dumb quesiton. why couldnt you just turn the whole chuck out of that block? why do you need the PVC pipe part?
@TheMessyStudio Жыл бұрын
Zed, I could have, but the kit (no longer available because he retired) already had the PVC pieces. That and I would have to add several pieces of Corian to make it longer, then hollow it all out. But the short answer is you don't have to have the PVC. And if I need a special size, I'll just turn one from PVC or a block of resin.
