Get your holiday decorations at thrift stores and then donate them back when you're done. Get new ones at thrift stores the following year. If people would stop buying all this cheap junk, they would stop producing so much of it. No one needs another sign from Target that says "Gather" or "It's Fall, Y'all." You can get high quality vintage decorations at thrift stores for next to nothing. They might actually have some value, unlike the cheap mass-produced garbage. You can also find brand-new or barely used things for pennies.

This year, I convinced the organizer to get an AirBNB apartment with a full kitchen, brought my bread machine, made a meal plan, brought a lot of my ingredients (we traveled to a more expensive area), still was able to get my preferred quality of ingredients, and spent maybe a third of what we did last year. $800 for Christmas isn’t too bad. Sometimes I feel guilty about appearing “cheap” at Christmas while feeling like I over spent at the same time. Between kids, parents, a small gift for siblings and my 1 surviving grandparent, and 5 nieces and a nephew, we spend between $1500-2000. The bulk of it goes to our kids. My husband and I don’t usually buy for each other unless one of us gets a good idea. We prefer to take ourselves out to dinner or activities over buying each other things. Despite all of this Christmas is loaded with obligation for me and it’s not my favorite holiday for that reason

A good healthy rabbit is an affordable pet option. Average lifespan is about 12 years. They don't need rabies shots nor getting spayed/neutered. Vet visits are very minimal or pretty much not needed. Grooming needs are about the same as a cat. They can be litter trained like a cat and behave very much like cats. They are very social like dogs. They're also quiet. Food and litter are fairly cheap at a farmer's supply store. Treats can be bought along with your regular fresh produce. They LOVE bananas. Just make sure to pet proof your house since they have a tendency to chew "spicy vines" (electrical cords). Mine ruined a few charger chords and my vacuume cleaner cord, and my window fan cord...

I don’t understand how tipping in America got so out of control 😱
@planetwalker798Ай бұрын
What does that mean? You still get to choose- if and what. I tip according to service given. Same as always. I also choose to go out less.
@am63607Ай бұрын
When I travel to America and go out to eat, they automatically put 20% tip on the bill. When queried they say that they always do that. I always tip but don’t like being told what to tip.
@NotSoBasicBitchesАй бұрын
I only tip when I am at a sit-down meal or if I am out having drinks. These employees make a typical base salary of $2.13/hr, they work for tips...but poor service does not get rewarded. I am annoyed with cashiers wanting tips. Get rid of the tip jars unless your at a drinking establishment. Fast food, even small shops are getting at least minimum wage for that state.
@kellykersten8828Ай бұрын
It's not in our control if they ask for tips before we even taste or see the food, before they bring it to us, when you order it. If you don't tip them they'll spit in it.

Love your tips. I was born August 1970. Most of these I have lived all of my life. My paternal grandparents provided most of our produce. My dad would hunt or fish for our meat, sometimes illegally. My husband and I married as teenagers and struggled on a tight budget. About 2007, we began to raise our own beef and got our first set of laying hens. Sadly, we no longer raise beef for a few reasons, but we have chickens, ducks, and goats. 😊

In the Northeast and much of Canada, Flashfood is available in supermarkets, which allows you to reserve items that is either overstock or slightly damaged packaging for half price, The tip I use is leaving stuff in the online cart - and I'm not talking about the late-night impulse buy. This is about items that I'll wait until there's a large enough order to get free shipping or waiting until an item goes on sale.

Costco is no longer letting people without a membership use the Costco cash cards. You will need to either have your friend buy the things you want for you, and pay them back, or go in with them and hope the cashier lets them do two transactions (some warehouses are SUPER strict on this if the person isn't an Executive or Business member (who will always be allowed 2 transactions).

@albionswede2 ай бұрын
@@LynsAlteredArts It's not at all stores yet, but I would prepare for it to come soon. I used to have my mom get me cash cards since her former-employee membership only gave her 2 cards to use for family, and her sister is disabled and can't go shopping often so my mom gave her the 2nd card. I'm in New England and they stopped accepting cash cards without a membership about 6 months ago. I've also heard some warehouses don't allow food court purchases without a membership anymore. I can't really blame them, people have been sharing memberships more and more. If you rely on cash cards, just make sure they will still accept them without membership if you are making a trip out to Costco.

We recently redid the windows in the living room with blackout curtains (that don't look like them or have the weight they used to) and when that late afternoon sun comes in, I close them and it cools the room so fast. I do a lot of these and have since I was in my 20’s. We do the credit card cashback and bought a snowblower (self propelled, heated handles) one year. It was free. We cashed in over $1,000 this past January. We buy everything we can with 1 card and pay it off every month. We fly one airline and joined their perks to get free tickets or upgrades (premium economy for extra leg room, 5’8” f and 5’11”m) for transatlantic flights (he’s from the UK). And of course those airplane tickets are bought with that one card to get cash back. You would be surprised how much you can earn for gas and groceries that you would have spent money on anyway but now you get cash back. Just got $45 by saving aluminum drink cans and taking them to a scrap metal business on the way to ALDI to shop.

Coffee lover here and this video is so on point! Buy a home espresso machine (you can get a reasonable one for $150.00-$200 bucks) and learn to make lattes/ cappuccinos at home. It will taste better, be healthier, the machine will more than pay for itself after your first month with it, and you will still have more money in your pocket in the end. Here's some math: $6.50 Starbucks Venti Latte x 5 days per week=$32.50 per week= $130.00 per month. That said, I do understand the power of convenience, but this is where I learned I have to decide what's more important to me: convenience or more money in my pocket to gain financial freedom.😉

It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

Effective personal finance management is more important than the amount of money saved, regardless of whether income is earned through job or investment. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.

I completely agree; I am in my mid 40s, approaching retirement, and have approximately over 2million dollars in external retirement funds.
