If people would stop buying all this cheap junk, they would stop producing so much of it. No one needs another sign from Target that says "Gather" or "It's Fall, Y'all." $800 for Christmas isn’t too bad. Sometimes I feel guilty about appearing “cheap” at Christmas while feeling like I over spent at the same time. Between kids, parents, a small gift for siblings and my 1 surviving grandparent, and 5 nieces and a nephew, we spend between $1500-2000. The bulk of it goes to our kids. My husband and I don’t usually buy for each other unless one of us gets a good idea. We prefer to take ourselves out to dinner or activities over buying each other things. A good healthy rabbit is an affordable pet option. Average lifespan is about 12 years. They don't need rabies shots nor getting spayed/neutered. Vet visits are very minimal or pretty much not needed. Grooming needs are about the same as a cat. They can be litter trained like a cat and behave very much like cats. They are very social like dogs. They're also quiet. Food and litter are fairly cheap at a farmer's supply store. Treats can be bought along with your regular fresh produce. They LOVE bananas. Just make sure to pet proof your house since they have a tendency to chew "spicy vines" (electrical cords). Mine ruined a few charger chords and my vacuume cleaner cord, and my window fan cord...

Costco is no longer letting people without a membership use the Costco cash cards. You will need to either have your friend buy the things you want for you, and pay them back, or go in with them and hope the cashier lets them do two transactions (some warehouses are SUPER strict on this if the person isn't an Executive or Business member (who will always be allowed 2 transactions).

I used to have my mom get me cash cards since her former-employee membership only gave her 2 cards to use for family, and her sister is disabled and can't go shopping often so my mom gave her the 2nd card. I'm in New England and they stopped accepting cash cards without a membership about 6 months ago. I've also heard some warehouses don't allow food court purchases without a membership anymore. I can't really blame them, people have been sharing memberships more and more. It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.
@rogerwheelers43223 ай бұрын
Effective personal finance management is more important than the amount of money saved, regardless of whether income is earned through job or investment. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.

One tablespoon per load is all you need. No grating of soap, either. Don’t buy fabric softener. Just toss a large clean dry bath towel in your dryer with the wet clothes. It speeds up drying and fluffs up the clothes, so less (if any) ironing is needed.

We fly one airline and joined their perks to get free tickets or upgrades (premium economy for extra leg room, 5’8” f and 5’11”m) for transatlantic flights (he’s from the UK). And of course those airplane tickets are bought with that one card to get cash back. You would be surprised how much you can earn for gas and groceries that you would have spent money on anyway but now you get cash back. Just got $45 by saving aluminum drink cans and taking them to a scrap metal business on the way to ALDI to shop.

Maybe not an adult costume idea, but when my kids were growing up I copied an idea from a mom of my sister's friend. She made her daughter a "candy machine" out of a cardboard box, silver paint, some markers and wrappers. At first my sons took turns, then one year they both wanted to be the candy machine, so I made a soda machine to go with it. Only had to make a couple of them over the years, as they always saved them and continued to play with them. I think over all the years, I may have bought 3 or 4 cans of spray paint and that was it. They never asked for a different costume. They loved it. People always thought they were cute and played on the candy theme and often gave them extra, lol.

Here’s a thought. Get a few of those 4 X 6 inch plug in LED light panels, set them up on elevated counters/shelves/etc., on the walls opposite these light panels put up a white sheet or a more reflective mylar sheet (a 100 X 4 foot roll of the stuff is less than $50). Another thing is going from chronographs (wall clocks with actual hands) to large display LED digital clocks. I know it isn’t much but these two tips will save you a few pennies on your electric bill each month. The thing about the clocks is that it takes a lot more electricity to turn the gears in a chronograph than it does to turn on a light in an LED digital clock. I know it’s old but Gomez and Morticia Addams from The Addams Family.

My son and I went as Mario and Luigi ... only had to have bib overalls for both of us. I made our hats from a red sweatshirt and a green sweatshirt ... Make two big circles from the sweatshirt material using a 5 gallon bucket lid. Use a smaller lid in the middle of one of the circles and cut out the smaller circle. Put the "right" sides of the big circles together. Hot glue the two big circles together and turn it right side out. I used the leftover sweatshirt to cut a bill for the hats, and I put a styrofoam plate between layers to give it some stability. Hot glue to the hat. I was luigi with a green long sleeve shirt. My son was Mario with a red long sleeve shirt. My other son was the mushroom -- made him a big hat with large red polka dots. My daughter would not wear the dress to be princess peach, and that was a bitter disappointment, but our costumes were enjoyed by everybody.

We have had an electric car now for 11 years. First bought a dealership used 2015 Nissan Leaf for $11K and had that for a 9 years, sold it on a private sale, and now have a certified used 2023 Chevy Bolt we bought for $22K in April. We started with a Leaf to get used to having an Electric car and purchased a juicebox (charger) and an electrician friend installed that in our garage to help charge it faster than our garage outlet. That was fine for 9 years but only had an 80 mile range per charge. We also have a 2000 Honda Accord stick-shift gas driven car too. With the new electric Chevy Bolt we have, that gets a 260 mile range per charge. Love it! Never have to go to the gas station and charging is barely noticeable on our electric bill each month. We also try to save $10K or more as a car cushion in case we ever have to buy a car, not caught off guard to finance. That typically means we have enough saved to pay cash for a car. Savings on gas alone is incredible.
