My 14 yr old son is in the room as I'm watching this video. Your plea about bacon grease is spot on. My 14 yr old son just said, "Bacon grease is liquid gold. It probably has healing capabilities, too. Might even cure cancer." 🤣🤣 I don't recommend taking medical advise from a 14 yr old boy, but I DO recommend keeping a jar of bacon grease in your refrigerator!!

My favorite brussel sprout recipes: slice them up REAL thin (watch your fingers), coat with oil, salt, pepper, other seasonings of choice. Lay them flat on a baking sheet, top with shredded Parmesan cheese and roast in the oven. Something about them being sliced so thin makes them crispy and delicious *chef’s kiss*

I used the canned coconut milk 🥥 for homemade protein shakes (instead of regular milk). It was good. I do bacon grease with green beans, pinto beans and sometimes bacon bits. Add in a tbsp on garlic powder and presto. Soo Good!

I was raised in MA and live in IL now. For all that is holy, DO NOT THROW AWAY THE BACON GREASE. My dad always had a bacon grease jar on the counter. He's 80 years old and still swears by the bacon grease. I have two jars in my fridge. I use it for everything. Can of green beans going into the microwave- bacon grease. Fried egg in the skillet- bacon grease. Mashed potatoes. Yes, even mashed potatoes. Try it!

I tend to make a chuck roast pot roast every week now since it's low carb, just meat, and veggies, and I can actually get my hubby to eat veggies by doing it. He's such a baby about veggies that once I know he likes one a certain way I will make it as much as I can.

I did a chuck roast inside of my instant pot. Beef broth. Potatoes and carrots with seasoning. So good. Another one, an Italian roast. Sier it with olive oil or whatever kind of oil. Put it in a pan with diced Italian tomatoes, Italian seasoning, beef broth, mushrooms. So good. Bake in the oven at first for 400 or 350 for one hour, and then every hour knock it down about 50 degrees. Have it slow cook all day and it's perfect. Do a side of garlic bread 🍞 and it's delicious

I made A roast recently that was amazing! You can turn it into tacos or enchiladas too. Or sandwiches with peppers and a chipotle ranch sauce. It was: -a pork tenderloin - 1/2 cup brown sugar - a jar of red enchilada sauce - 2-3 garlic cloves minced - a can of Dr Pepper - cumin/ smoked paprika/ garlic and onion powder/ s &p to taste Cook all day and shred! Sooo good!

CROCK POT TIP I CAME ACROSS FROM A WONDERFUL CANADIAN WOMAN I FOLLOW.... Put a couple dish towels over your crackpot as it cooks to hold the heat in as the glass lid isn't as effective anymore. Not like in the 70's, 80's era where it was much thicker and was amazing!!!

Pasta packages always say ready in 8-12 minutes depending on if it's regular or whole wheat. Whole wheat cooks here for 45 minutes. No joke. No it's not destroyed or limp, but at least the hardness is out and the "doughy" taste. Regular we put on for 30 minutes. Maybe that's just us. It's not a quick meal for us by *any* means.

Best way to keep bacon fat! ( or any other oil you need to throw away. Don’t pour cooking oil down the drain). Keep the jars other food items come in, like salsa jars or recently I used a candle jar. Pour the grease right on in, and then you can either toss it out, or for the bacon fat out a lid on it and store in the fridge for later. Easy to add more and the jar isn’t needing wrapped in plastic wrap or just sitting out exposed to the air.

I bought those same chicken breast on clearance at Smiths (Fry's) and grilled them last week. They were so good, I'll be looking for more of them. I have bought most of my meat there for 20 yrs out of the clearance area and have never been disappointed. Their little marinated pork loins are awesome also. And bacon, I get the best buys on bacon that is no longer vacuum sealed and marked wayyyyy down. I can then afford to keep bacon cooked and in the freezer to pull a couple of slices out for breakfast, add to a salad or whatever. And of course keep the grease jar full.

I would never doubt your doctor but I’d bet bacon fat is better than vegetable oil with all the chemicals and preservatives in it. 🤷🏼♀️. I only use bacon fat and I learned to render my own tallow and lard (pure fat). Olive oil as well depending on flavor profile. The tallow and lard have no taste FWIW. Ghee too (clarified butter).

@yenquest Жыл бұрын
Not only more flavor, it's probably a lot healthier too (healthy animal = healthy fat , in terms of omega 3 versus omega 6 ratios). The so-called "margarine" and "veggie oil" are nothing more than highly processed neutral flavored grease meant to apply toward rusty iron (or light a candle wick). 🤣
