Want to start seeds indoors to save money on garden transplants? Or maybe you would like to start a bunch and make money having a plant sale? In this series I am documenting how I start them for my own homestead as well as to sell. In this part two video I show an update on how my plants are doing as well as how I transplant them to avoid too much transplant shock.
In case you missed part one: • Complete Guide To Star...
Week 4: Transplant Tomatoes, peppers and eggplants into large square pots. Also start greens for plant sale (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, Cabbages, Lettuce, Spinach, Pak Choi, Mustard, Endive, Swiss chard, Collards, Kale, Arugula, etc.)
Week 2-3 Start fast growing Warm weather crops in pots and cool weather crops direct seed in garden. (To sow in pots indoors (mostly optional for earliest harvests or short season areas) - Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Pumpkin, cucumbers, Summer squashes- Zucchini and Yellow squash, Winter squashes- Acorn, spaghetti and Butternut. To Direst Seed in garden: Beets, Turnips, Parsnips, Carrots, Radishes and Peas.)

Thanks for the idea of separating the plants. I have always been one of those that just pulled them apart. Usually one or both didn't survive.

Great info girl.. thank you .. I use polystirien cups for my tomatoes now , and I cut off those first set of leaves then bury them in a soil mixture up to the next set of leaves... after this & when its time I can bury them deeper in our garden, it seems to me that the better the root system and stronger the stem , you get a better & stronger plant. On the Pacific Northwest Coast the growing season is short,, the yeilds have been ok , but then I just like to try and garden, after comming from a place with a better growing season, the fun has always growing from seed.....

I know you said you have a greenhouse. I dont. Do you think I could use your advice and grow with lights in the house and get the same results. I bought many seeds this winter and would like to just use them this summer and no store bought transplants.

I moved away from my greenhouse :( I do however have a video coming out next week about how to start seeds without a greenhouse.

Do you normally keep everything you grow or do you sale any of them? I was wondering it takes a lot of time to plant everything and if you actually sale them are you making money from them or just basically breaking even? Thanks. 😊
