Uncle, good choice in potting mix. Gary's Top Pot is highly recommended. I have a loquat tree in my yard. Every year, it drops seed, and those seeds grow more trees. I pull out about 2 dozen loquat trees every year. They grow like weeds. It's an invasive species.

I have two loquat trees. And when the children (and squirrels) drop the seeds, new plants crop up. I pull dozens out every year (and give away as many as I can). So growing from seed seems to be effortless here in 9b. And I agree: the fruit IS delicious 👍🏾

Here in Germany they are called "Mispel". Here they are flowering in the winter and develop fruits in spring. In the winter time my trees are covered by a thick layer of snow. The flowers can freeze and defrost several times and still develop fruits. There is also another variety called the "common medlar" but its not as tasty as the loquat.

The German name is interesting. A former botanical name for the loquat was Mespilus japonica.

@@Lutzmann_ZwanzInteressant.

One of my favorites too! Great video! I peel the thin skin off and remove the seeds and eat just the incredible flesh of the fruit. You are completely correct! The flavors are among the most delicious fruit I've had. Some say the texture is a cross between a plum and a pear. But your flavor description is more accurate!

I’ve tasted one loquat fruit and found it a bit mushy and very bland. Maybe I would have liked it better harvested sooner? Maybe there’s one particularly tasty variety that I would like better? You spoke well of the Christmas variety in this video. Anyone else have a recommendation for a flavorful and delicious variety of loquat I might want to grow? I’m in high desert zone 8b, same as my friend who gave me a fruit off her tree to try.

Last year, i bought the loquat tree from plant seller in my city. It's quite expensive and rare here. I think the tree is damage on shipping and stress. The tree leaves began falling since the first day on my house. I try to put it in shade area for few day, and watering as needs. It's began rotting from up to bottom. I never lost tree that way. I was shock and afraid to buy again. It's difficult to buy, rare and quite expensive😭
