Today we want to take a look back at everything that we have had the opportunity to experience over the course of three amazing seasons of Fruits Basket. Whether we are reminiscing about our favorite characters like Tohru, Yuki, or Kyo. Talking about the OP and EDs, or simply expressing what this show has meant to us all, we want to take this time to look back at such a wonderful show and share our answers, as well as yours to a survey that we put onto our Discord shortly after the series ended.

Man, still can’t get over the fact that Fruits Basket is over. It was nice seeing all the responses from the discord server along with your overall thoughts on the show and honestly, I’m glad that a story like this fell into our lives! Thank you for making the fruba journey a very special one with your podcasts :D. Also discord event hype lets goooo! As a manga reader, yes I was happy with the adaptation, but I literally balled my eyes out when I saw how much Yuki/Machi content was left out. Back story, I didn't know it was a manga when I watched the first anime and was so disappointed by the ending. So I was so happy to find out there was actually more to the story. But then I see Yuki with this girl who's not Tohru. Was a Tohru/Yuki shipper at first, so I wanted to find out more about her. I was a bad girl and skipped most of the manga to be able to read about them. (Don't worry I went back and read it) But yea, I fell in love with them too. They were just so perfect for each other. There's even a YT vid (the one from 12 years ago), of their manga scenes set to the song, "You Found Me" and *chefs kiss* That song is PER-FECT. Someone made an updated anime ver. a year ago.

So I still FULLY intend on making that video but when I started reading the manga I realized that there's likely going to be a lot more Machi content there so I may as well wait to make it until I finish the manga.

2:24 I'm surprised that Kyo, the fandom's favourite by far, has the least votes out of the main trio. He might be comparatively more polarizing so while he's the most common pick for #1, those who favour other characters have him in their top 3 less frequently than Tohru and Yuki. 3:07 Machi's in my top 3 so I'm happy to see her votes! 19:04 Ad Meliora's my favourite ED song so that upsets me too. 20:36 Ep 18's underrated imo. As someone who struggles with self-hatred and found the common "how can others love you if even you don't love yourself" sentiment very damaging, Yuki's take on self-love resonated. 30:49 As a Yuki fan, the cut manga content really hurt.😫 Poor Komaki's still manga-only despite the full adaptation.😔 40:58 S3 being only 1 cour was unexpected and I particularly love the cut manga content so the disappointment actually stopped me from keeping up while it aired. I loved the adaptation so the knowledge that some of my highly anticipated moments won't get the same treatment made it sting more. I am still grateful that we got a new anime. This was interesting. It was nice to gush about Furuba with you again.😊

Why would you say Kyo is polarizing? From what I have noticed Yuki is far more polarizing

@@fablihakhan904 I wanted a *possible* explanation for why the fandom's favourite, Kyo, got the least votes out of the main trio in *this* poll. Do you have another explanation? Keep in mind that there were only 115 voters so they don't represent the overall opinion.

@@othersideofthescreen6245 Yes that is why I don't think this represents accurate data. Keep in mind that you also have to take into account who and where the data is collected from. Like thoughtbubble is very pro Yuki. His love and admiration for Yuki's character does attract more Yuki fans to the channel (like me lol). Also I have seen that fans who enjoy the show not for the romance aspect tend to have Kyo down their list while they have Yuki in the top 3, mostly..like I know back in the day a lot of watchers predominately watched and invested in fruits basket for the romance, pretty much speed reading Yuki content. The anime does not let you do that and the new reboot focuses more on the psychological aspect than romance so maybe that is another reason.

@@fablihakhan904 I also thought of the audience they attract since Jon's love for Yuki drew me in too. Kyo being lower on lists for people who aren't primarily invested in the main couple is basically what I meant by him possibly being slightly more polarizing. There were complaints about Yuki getting more screentime in S2 so I guess I didn't take anime scenes being harder to skip or skim through than manga pages into account.

@@fablihakhan904 yeah, I agreed this data can't be represent the accurate data, at least not to represent the accurate data for the whole fandom. I always adore Kyo at my 1st place (followed by Tohru on the same 1st place), and its not for the romance aspect, but his psychological aspect. His character's story actually was also great. His character was really complicated for me. Like his fucked up fate since him born as cat and how that cruel fate keep continue to haunting his life, his great self-loathing, guilty, trauma, envy, not-being-able-to-save inner conflict, coping mechanism, double-edged pity love that keep hurting him, dealing with human's life and death repeatedly. I'm actually a bit disappointed because I found no one in youtube want to try to do analysis for his "The Psychology of Sohma Kyo". Even for me, his romance with Tohru was only like a plot device. The true conclusion with her was for Kyo to forgive himself regarding his guilty over Kyoko's death and every fucked up things he had until then so he could move on and believe he also deserve to fight for a bright future. And yes, the voting here doesn't truly represent an accurate data for the whole fandom. I'm sure there's still a lot of Kyo's fan still tend to love him regardless of his romance with Tohru.

I love this podcast! I liked listening to your thoughts , I remember liking Kyo right away and Yuki too, and I was so interested in new characters of the second arc, like Kakeru and Machi hidden faces while talking and looking at Yuki intrigued me and Rin's mysterious behaviour intrigued me .... I was so happy that the real adaptation was coming in 2019..and I am thankful for it that I met interesting people in the fandom and community, even thought I still am not over the season 3 ending...... T_T

First off, thank you SO much for wanting to hear our thoughts on Season 1. It literally means the world to us. Unfortunately we likely won't be going back to season 1 to talk about it. While we absolutely adore Fruits Basket and talking about the show we just think the continuity of the series would be weird switching to having context into season 3 part way through looking at season 1. In addition to that, those videos just take a lot of time and we're a bit more keen on shifting our focus on future projects. Thank you again though, and we hope you understand. :)

I don't care that it makes me seem basic my 3 favourite characters are: Tohru, Yuki & Kyo but if we ignore the 3 main leads then I'd probably say Haru, Rin & Momiji. I wish Machi (because I think it really hindered her relationship with Yuki in the anime) & Kakeru (because of that important backstory that was cut from the anime) got more screen time. Akito obviously had the biggest change of character but other then that I think I really grew to like Hiro in the anime while kid me hated him for being such a brat & I'd say Rin as well because she came off as really mean when she's first introduced (dumping Haru, trying to kick Tohru & yelling at Yuki) but obviously once I got to know her I felt so bad for her especially in the anime as now that I'm older I can better understand the effects that all that abuse had on her. I think my favriote opening musically is definitely Prisim but visual wise I'd have to say Home is the best. My favriote ending is
