Oh Andrea , what an incredible segment, I was also in tears at the end. I lost my 53 year old daughter in 2015 from cancer. I was first drawn to this episode by your guest last name. Crawford is my Mother’s maiden name, who by the way will be 95 her birthday in December. What an inspirational this lovely young women is. Her first book “A Stitch in Time”, had some of the most beautiful patterns I have ever seen. I was so impressed by every single minute. I absolutely believe that the show that you and Andrew do is top Quality and should be on Public television. Bravo to you both. A very lovely and emotional podcast this time. Made me tear up a few times really. When seeing Susan, the way her arms are shaped, the little dimples in her ellbows, brought back memories of my grandma who died when I was 9 years old. I grew up with her when I was 4 and all of a sudden I could feel the soft skin on her ellbows and the warmth of her skin, the love she had for me and all that came up, when listening and seeing Susan. It made me want to cuddle up next to her and give her a big hugg. She is wonderful, in every way.

A brilliant episode. I was especially touched by the interview with Susan Crawford. I too was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly 4 years ago now and had to have chemo etc. I decided to learn to spin and have spent the last 4 years becoming an addict. When faced with one of life's big challenges it's great to have the distraction of a great craft. I've been knitting since I was 3 years old but I've learnt so much since finding fruity knitting. Thank you so much.

Thank you for a very lovely episode. I love the simple technique to make the ruffled edge, and the inspirational stories of your guests were special. I too got misty-eyed and appreciate the de-stigmatizing of breast cancer via the book/journal. Two more great examples of how knitting has helped people physically and emotionally. I love all of you podcast episodes, but I must admit that you and Susan had me in tears at the end of this one. Her story was a true inspiration and I do think that that the Scarlet's Knocker Jotter is a fabulous idea. No one wants to go through anything like this, but as Susan says it gives you an idea of what the experience was for those 16 women, although your experience may not be the same, it gives some idea of what may happen if you do get this; or have had this diagnosis. I really did find both Susan's and Karen's knitting journey's really interesting, I loved seeing all of the beautiful colour work projects and hearing about how Susan read the knitting in Shetland archives to re-write these beautiful vintage pieces for the modern knitter.

What a wonderful podcast! Thank you Fruity Knitting! I was so touched and SO inspired by this program. Wartime Farm was an AMAZING program (available on KZbin) and I watched the farmer wearing that beautiful vintage Fair Isle sweater get so filthy and worried it would be destroyed, but it wasn't really. And you can see a few other people in the program wearing a similar sweater in the pattern. I knew there had to be a good story behind it! Also, my grandfather was a POW in Japan and I loved seeing Susan's recreation of the POW sweater. And I am headed to the art museum in St. Louis and will take my knitting with me! And although I've never tried Fair Isle knitting I really want to knit the Rose Cardigan ... Andrea and Andrew - your Podcast is the best!

Touching, really. I went through the same feelings two years ago when I was diagnosed cancer. My husband died of cancer just the year before and I cannot describe how I felt when my diagnose came out. All is over now, but I do remember how greatly admired Susan when she started sharing her feelings on Instagram. It is important not to be left by ourselves because great part of the recovery and healing process comes from acceptance. Thanks.

Just finished watching this podcast. Halfway through I was thinking how much I enjoy these podcasts and how I learn so much from each one. Then the interview with Susan started; her passion for preserving the knits of the Shetland Isles is amazing as well as her curiosity and study of each item and each knitters work and inspiration. I have to get this book!!! I need to add as well Andrea that your evident appreciation of her work and the absolute devotion it required made it all the more authentic. Then you asked Susan to share her story and I was sitting one my sofa, knitting and crying right along. My very best friend has just completed treatment for Breast Cancer in September 2017. It was a year long journey from diagnosis to the last day of radiation and this discussion was so amazing having lived that with her. Susan you are an amazing woman!! and I know I don't even really know a smidgen about you!! I am sending you love and wishing all the best for you. Your farm looks amazing!!! Andrea, you are absolutely correct in saying, "Susan, you have done so much!!" Finally, I am so appreciative of this podcast and the work you and Andrew are doing to bring it to us. I love the interviews and spotlights on knitters. Both of the knitters from this episode were so interesting. Also, I especially liked the view of the Gateway to the West Arch in St. Louis. I remember when it was being built. I've seen it from the bridge, but had never seen it from the opposite direction. The courtyard with the building framed by the arch is magnificent.

I ordered Susan's book last year and I am very excited to hear the the book is finally published, especially since Susan had to cope with cancer treatment and all that involves in the interim. I love that Susan Crawford was thinking about how American Actresses wore garments, the clothing from that period was finally comfortable for women and wearing trousers. I'm myself only saw my grandmother it slacks one time. She always wore a dress and apron at home. American actresses now are trashy, they are no longer classy and beautiful woman. It's really a shame.
