Your honesty about frustration is so refreshing! It’s comforting to know even experienced singers struggle but use that to get better. Inspires to practice more now!

I went to many vocal coaches. At the end they are all good. Just need to find the right fit.

Hi Jim! Thank you so much for your openness and honesty. You seem to have a knack for knowing what I need to hear and when I need to hear it. I've been soo so so frustrated recently. Not only with my singing, but other aspects of my life too. You really put Frustration into a new perspective, a perspective from which growth is possible instead of sulking in the metaphorical corner being frustrated. Thank you again Jim! I hope your Hashimoto's is keeping under control and not acting up too much. So sorry you have to go through that. Sending love and good vibes your way! 💐💖😊🙏🏻

Hi Evelyne! I'm sorry you've been frustrated lately - we must be on the same timeline haha! Growth happens from that place, so I'm trying to embrace frustration with gratitude by telling myself "this is a blessing" (not easy!) Thanks for your Hashimoto's wish and the love and good vibes as I needed to hear that! Sending some back to you too! 😊💕🤘🙏

You're getting to the core of my issue. Consistent practice eludes me...

Jim I'm sorry you went thru all that horrible thyroid stuff, my partner had her thyroid removed in 2012 and she can't sing like she used to, had to re learn everything and it's still not the same. It had cancer, different reason but I couldn't imagine weeks you both went thru. And singing is ssoooooooo frustrating!!! I learn a little every week but practicing is the most important. Understanding what you're learning for your own voice is also important, and I sang for almost 20 years in bands and acoustic but I always felt I needed to know more, even as a guitarist I'll never know everything. And learning is fun, and frustrating 😂 good stuff brother🤘🤘

I practice ALL the time. I take vocal lessons. I start with appogio breath exercises, warm up, SOVT drills, and then vowels and/or what ever scale exercises I am working on. My hubby says I have a beautiful voice when I am doing scales. BUT the second I go from scales to worded music ...or even scales in front of a microphone my voice dies. It is like I hear a red siren in my head going "you think you're allowed to be heard!? *evil laugh*" and I can feel myself shrink. My vocal coach is tells me I have a good voice, good pitch, over 4 octaves (I can get into whistle reg), he doesn't hear my flip, my passagio is smoothed....and he is frustrated with me that "I keep avoiding singing"... But I sing all the time. All the time a long as I am not the focus... And I don't know what to do... I don't know why I am afraid to be seen+heard.

We all have that fear to some extent… the only way to get over it is to “put the reps in” and sing for others… you will get confidence ONLY by doing the thing you fear 😊👍🏼 I have faith in you! Keep me updated!
