This week’s guest Bobby Apgar is a TBI survivor and speaker. In 1995, Bobby was a college football start getting recognized as a pre-season All-American at a Division 1 level when he suffered a life changing car accident which caused a significant traumatic brain injury. After being in a coma for 28 days, Bobby began the journey of rehabilitation - but he didn't realize how much the TBI would affect his life. In recent years, Bobby was faced with coming to grips with his TBI like never before and began a journey of acceptance through entering the brain injury community. Today he openly shares this journey, including many of the frustrations and difficulties - and will leave you feeling inspired to never give up!

27 year TBI survivor here from a bad car wreck on 3/31/97... I was in the hospital for 26 days and in Physical Therapy for 18 months... I struggle with repeating myself, poor multitasking skills, word finding, dysregulation etc... I attempted and failed at several careers-( Special Education Teacher,Car Salesman,911 Radio Dispatcher)... TBI issues,PTSD issues and Career Failures led to increased Depression,Anxiety and Suicidal Thoughts...I now FINALLY have a somewhat decent quality of life... I FINALLY received SSDI-(Social Security Disability Income) after 15 years,4 appeals and 3 attorneys... I now Drive for a Car Dealership and Build Model Cars as a hobby... These activities give my life meaning, help me cope with my TBI and PTSD issues, and improve my self esteem...

I agree nothing quite like seeing TBI survivors that are worse off than you are.. A few weeks ago I attempted and failed to build a Model Car Kit and I was pretty down about it... The next day,I attended a TBI convention and saw survivors that couldn't drive, walk or even talk... When I got back from the convention,I decided to work on another model car I was working on and was able to build it successfully!!

I think the hardest thing to accept sometimes is the only consistency in your brain is the inconsistencies, which is made worse because nobody that doesn't have a TBI will really understand

@@debblackmore7460 thanks for the reply, but im assuming im not your typical client, you see my damaged brain has severed the link to the Matrix, Ive never felt so free, of course my fam and friends think im nuts. but that OK. ive also had 2 NDE's for which has taken many years to decode. unfortunatly my broken body (brain) is a one way valve, with no release.
