in times we live in now, where everything is flat and minimal, we as humans feel nothing. It has escalated to the point where it is more enjoyable when things look older and outdated, because we are all tired of nothing. Every facet of our lives has been drained of its personality and character; nothing is special anymore. But that gives us every reason to move our society closer to that special-ness, with the music we create, the art we paint, and the world we build. It's all in your hands, you just have to want it enough; and that, is what makes YOU special. YOU can change everything!

Yes, I some sort agree with you, but minimalistic style existed since the early 1900s, it's an artistic style like the others, and it will eventually decay leaving the place with something else. The frutiger aero style was also criticized at that time, so there will never be a style that will be commonly accepted, at least when it starts to trend.
@StrongZeroPowerHour3 ай бұрын
By the time flat aesthetics took over, everyone was tired of the glossy, flashy stylings of the 00's. They looked disingenuous, cheap, and soulless. As tech took over our lives, we fell out of love with it. Mass connectivity meant no work/life balance, cyberbullying, mIsinformation. There was no magic, no better world, no better future. Flat aesthetics reflected the way that we felt about our tech:, functional, unsentimental, disillusioned.
@circleinforthecube51702 ай бұрын
@@StrongZeroPowerHour well, everyone of the current generation at that time, taste changes with generation, one of the most profound examples of this is that in the 1950s 1800s era buildings that would be universally considered beautiful today were said to be outdated and garish, taste changes, minamalism and maximalist bounce between eachother throughout all artforms throughout history. the thing about UI though, is that you can change it
@circleinforthecube51702 ай бұрын
what does it mean when we say art is outdated? there was no reason it ever really needed to change outside of money and a generation or two getting tired of it. but that doesn't matter if that generation looses relevancy, its not outdated anymore, it becomes historic

Newer generations don't experience things as revolutionary as the older generations did, therefore they probably do not desire to give it much embellishment and don't share the same cultural language required for old aesthetics to make sense to them.

I always felt this indescribable sensation when seeing bright white rooms with greenery and glossy furniture as a kid. The 2009 feeling. I called it "Fragrant Noonsleep" as a kid (I know, it makes no sense, I was 4 okay? Also this is translated from Mandarin "香午觉" so that adds to the confusion) but no one knew what I was talking about. Here it is. Frutiger Aero. That's the sensation. I found it after 16 years while procrastinating on KZbin.

I was university around the early 2010s, before the whole "minimalism" trend took hold. There was a very big effort to make communal spaces brighter and more green. The library had these big living walls that worked as room dividers. I loved those, if you wanted to take a break from studying you could grab a misting bottle and go mist the plants. That's the kinda stuff I miss these days.
