FRV/CFA: EARLY ARRIVAL, multiple vehicles responding to a 7th factory fire in Derrimut on 10/07/24

At approximately 11:13 on 10/07/24 FRV were called to a factory fire at 118 Swann Dr Derrimut, on route it was declared to be a major fire and throughout the day it was escalated to a 7th alarm units on scene were
P43, PT59, P55, BS38, P44, R44, RHB1, TB10, P45, LP47, AOC19, AOC20, AOC35, BA38, CU1A, PT40, PT41, PT46, T10B HZ38, P57, LP1, P47, P58, PT44, T10A T47, UP1, LP35, P42, P51, PT48, PT51, P2A, P2B, P38A, P39B, PT51, P38B P39A, P4, UP42 and DC1A with toilet CFA vehicles onscene were CAROPT TRUGP1 TRUGFCV WBEEP1 HOPT HOPBA HOPFCV

@@throttlegalsmagazineaustra7361 I beg to differ - at least for the crews from Werribee and Hoppers Crossing. Some CFA crews may have someone in wildfire gear as a 5th. Generally they are newer members and it's a good opportunity to witness incidents (where appropriate)

​@@Andy.groover The funny thing is that the day before during lunch at work we were discussing Coode Island and the huge fire that happened there back in the 90s. Our boss is a bit younger than most of us late 50s dudes and we had to explain what Coode Island meant and where it was. As for this fire my work mate and I drive past the warehouse most days on our way to and from work. It looks a right mess now! Maybe you should do a follow-up video filmed from the Deer Park Bypass to show the extent of the devastation before they start any site clear up. That will be an interesting operation all of it's own.

@@Andy.groover Andy could you possibly list the types of Appliances as I am not familiar with shorthand that FRV and CFA use. If I am having trouble then I am sure that others will be too. Perhaps this could be an idea for another video? By the way is that Ultra Large Pumper still in regular service? That's a pretty old unit now, judging by the cab styling.

@markfryer9880 so Fire Rescue Victoria or FRV use the following. Pumpers, Pumper Tankers, Ultra Large Pumpers, Rescues, Telebooms, Ladder Platforms, Transporters (they carry the pods like the hose layer seen in the footage) Hazmats, BA trucks/vans and even boats. The ULPs their was 2 at this job the one at the end is 29 years old CFA or Country Fire Authority (100% volunteers) is more rural however some brigades that responded to this are on the urban fringe, they basically the same types of vehicles as FRV except aerial appliances

I know the alarm system is widely used in the US I didn't realize it was also used in Aus. Here in the UK the fireground commander just calls on the appliances and types after the initial PDA....... make pumps 6 aerials 1 hose layer 1 etc.

@johnbratley6926 the CFA have a system like that, make pumpers or tankers 5 etc, FRV have just alaem responses 1st alarm being 2 pumps or pumper tankerz, 2nd alarm being 4 pumper/pumper tankers, plus 1 aerial, rescue, BA support and commander (chief basically) then it scales upwards from there
