Yes they are!!! I’m also Haitian 🇭🇹 But I recently tried African food. Nigerian food specifically, it does not taste like Caribbean food at all. They have very different spices, seasoning from us. It was interesting to try.

How amazing. In East Africa the bakes are similar to our mahamri and we make the with exactly the same ingredients. Instead of mixed spice we add cardamom and eat them with spiced tea (chai). Lovely seeing this, I'll definitely try this recipe.

It is truly a St.Lucian breakfast especially on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I used to prepare it a lot in New York when the weather was unbearable for my husband and kids my children would only eat the bakes not salt fish nor coco tea. Now we moved to South Florida I would be dumb to drink a cup of coco tea I would sweat the devil out of me it is too hot. One question for you why the ripe plantain in the bake? I've never seen it merci.
