Fry Bakes/ Fry Dumpling- St Vincent/Caribbean Bakes//Baking Powder & Yeast//(soft and fluffy)

Recipe
2 cups of all purpose flour
2 teaspoon yeast
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon brown sugar(omit if you wish)
Over 1/2 cup of water
About 1 cup of oil for frying/less if you prefer
1/2 cup extra flour to help knead dough
Do no over heat your oil else your bakes will burn quickly and not cook on the inside.
Fry them light brown, deep brown whichever way you prefer.
Enjoy!

So happy you enjoyed them. You can add coconut or cornmeal to your bakes. Add piece of butter, shortening/lard, use yeast or baking powder alone. So many ways to enjoy them. Thank you!

My grandmother used baking powder, and she used to used this one as well, or yeast only. I still have to do her other ways of doing them. Especially the doughboy with baking powder.

Am in the UK and lucky enough to find places to get nearly all my food like vincy but nothing can beat being home , where all your food is fresh and organic. biabou ain't to far from mespo either.
