Are there any tips for flying around the mountains? I am planning to do a touch n go at Fryeburg on my way to Laconia tomorrow.

Yes, make sure you don't fly below and directly into the leeward side of a mountain. For example, if the winds are coming out of the west, the eastern side of the mountain will be on the leeward side, and you can have rolling waves of wind rolling down the eastern side of the mountain. So first, stay above the tops of the mountains when crossing over, and cross them at an angle, e.g. 45 degrees. This way if you start getting into down drafts you can turn out and away from the mountain. You should probably take a mountain flying course if you plan to do much mountain flying.

@@FalconImagery Thank you! That’s is helpful. I’m planning on going into Mt Washington at some point but not too much mountain flying other than that.
