Hi, I have purchased the Amiga forever roms but when I try to import it from my download folder, it says no rom files were found. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Amiga Forever roms require a rom.key file the first time they are ever accessed. This unlocks them. It must be in the directory with the roms. Or that’s how it used to be.

Thanks for trying to help, much appreciated just frustrating as want to revisit the fab times of playing Amiga games. I The download folder has 3 folders. adf, adf-short-names and hdf. Have tried to import all the folders but I get no Rom Files were found. If I open the adf folder, it shows all the workbench files and kickstart files but they are a light grey shade and cannot be opened or imported. Very frustrating. Want to play on Mac air book but alas cannot find a way round this problem 😢

@@trickofthe the roms would not be in ADF folders they should be in a rom folders. With “.rom” extensions. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have changed the file name on all the files to .rom from .adf and put them into the right folder. I do the import and when I do this, it says 16 ROM files were imported. I then update file database and scan but all the kickstart files have a x in them so will not work. I might have to go back to windows as have got this working on a friend’s windows 10 laptop without ant problems

@@trickofthe you should not be renaming files. Changing their extension doesn’t make them different. You need to find the files that have the .rom extension. The reason you were able to add those you changed is because the program simply accepts files with .rom. That’s why they’re still not working. As they’re not actually .rom files.

Since years I wanted to go back to those amazing childhood memories and finally I have done it on my Mac Intel i7 with the Amiga Forever "Plus Edition". Would the Kickstart versions also be included in the Hyperion entertainment version? I have not found any information on the website on that 🤔

Hyperion provides kickstart images for use in emulation or burning your own roms.

I use it daily it daily on my Mini M2 but it's way more fun to use the old E-UAE jit version on my 2004 eMac, CRT power!

Great video! I would love to see a video explaining how to add RTG graphics and Picasso96 to FS-UAE. I know you can download ready-made Workbench packs with that already installed, but I always prefer to start from scratch.

I've been thinking about getting an Amiga mini, or Pi 400 with Amiga loaded up on it. I know it can run in Retropie too. But I have an old Imac that's in storage and has done everything i need up to date. It's been bombproof. I run Open Emu for console emulation and Boxer for dos games. My software is 10.13. Will the. Amiga run on this Imac? I just want to try out some old games again such as Chaos Engine, 8 bit versions of old c64 games such as Star Wars, Barbarian, Bombjack, and some Public Domain freebies games such as Tetris Pro. I'm not a serious Amiga user.

WinUAE can do decent Amiga emulation even on a single core cpu if it’s 2ghz+. Dual Core or higher would be much better.

It should be fine for the most part. You may run into quirks with individual games and you may find yourself needing to save custom configs to run them. Such as like a 1.2 512k Amiga 500 for some really early games.

Hi I went to Hyperion and bought AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for Classic. Is this the right thing?? I can't see any Roms? What have I just bought??? help :(

You want 3.2 not 4.0. 4.0 is another branch of WB more for Power PC I believe. :/

Great for those MAC only households for those looking to get their Amiga Fix on without the high price of buying Classic Hardware. Purists hate Emulation, me I am not a purist, I own a fair amount of Amiga's and I think emulation is awesome. I also have PC's and Mac's in the house those can die and I could care less about it because they are easily replaceable, but if one of my Amiga's craps I cry big time. Only computer that makes me smile when I turn them on is an Amiga.

Lol, thought you were going to talk about MorphOS. MorphOS is a much better experience that AmigaOS for everything, minus nostalgia. Iris and Wayfarer alone let you actually use an Amiga for real stuff...

@@HoldandModify For nostalgia absolutely. Love the classic UI. For real world email, browsing, crm, pdf handling, 1080p playback, and a ton of other items AmigaOS really is terrible for that and that is where MorphOS is just golden. 3.18 released today as a matter of fact... Tinkering is fun on the classic stuff, but for actually doing stuff there is really no comparison anymore...

@@a4000t Run a native email program on any Amiga flavor, or browser, or pdf, or so much else. Rabbit hole is the only way, except for MorphOS. AmigaOS 4 is totally useless on classic hardware. RTG really isn't Amiga, or even MUI by purists back in the day. Agree that the problem is all the 10 ways you mentioned, but MorphOS is really on another level with OS stability and capability. I have heard that we may see MorphOS on PPC Amiga someday. The only issue is that will probably be too slow. So a cheap $100 G4/5 is just as much Amiga as a X1000/5000 and it will run circles around them at 1/10th the cost. AmigaOS4 is a bastard OS as much as MorphOS is, we could even argue that it is the proper step from 3.x.

@@km3481 I started on amiga in 87' 2k,3k,then 4k. The a4000 was expanded with a Cyberstorm PPC 060@80mhz with UWscsi to acard 7730a and a samsung 256Gb ssd(acard 7720U and 64gb cf previous)running os 3.9(3.1 prior) with 128MB ram and a picasso IV. this was my main setup from 92 on.this machine ran 24/7-365 till 2015 when the internet got to be so annoying with the css stuff etc. Mediator added and radeon 9250 with 256MB added in and workbench in 1600x1200x32. Tocatta sound,then later terratec 512I on mediator.All those year its was my main machine with YAM,printing to a color xerox phaser laser in full color via NPR.device over lan using ghost script for pdf,as well as FXSCAN (could scan to PDF)and FXpaint.,Fast scsi scanner connected and Deneb USB. I did all my banking and credit card stuff online with this. It worked fine for many years,but times change, just like a pc does everything you do on morphos right. The 4k is still here and still works.

Any Workbench and rom after 3.1 must be acquired from Hyperion. They make the 3.2 stuff. Google Hyperion and Amiga. :)
