The greed for money sold out North America. Cheap labour from other countries took the jobs. All the big companies that turned there back on the North American people made billions upon billions of dollars by building factories in countries and paid pennies on the dollar for there goods to be made. That’s where the jobs went. Loved all the camera angles on this video FSC. I really like when you haul oversized. Makes for a better video in my opinion. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring.

I'm younger then you but you're right about what you said when it comes to industries going away. Here in Augusta,Ga where I live, the textile industry was huge. We had plenty of cotton mills in the city and surrounding communities that closed when the industry moved overseas. My dad was a truck driver for 30+ years and I can remember him always bringing back loads of cotton out of Texas when I was younger and all of a sudden that changed. I look around my city at all of the cotton mills that are closed and the buildings are dilapidated and run down. It's actually sad to think how a city like mine was once thriving due to an industry and now that the industry is gone the city is just stagnant

That place that you said was derelict in old times was the US pipe company. It made iron and soil pipe for most of the southeast. They shut it down with no notice to the people who work there because they couldn’t pass the EPA laws years ago. Moved it to Mex. I grew up smelling them making pipe there. Lots of people had jobs. paid for their houses and put their kids through college with that money that was made in that place and they just shut it down. it had a strange smell when you went by it. most people didn’t smell too good but to me it always smelled great because that was the smell of good jobs. Use to load out of there driving for Deton Truck Lines back in the 70s and 80s. Back when we were the knights of the highway.

@@houstonbowers2803 not angry at all partner, Bessemer plantain has been in business almost as long as the one in Chattanooga wash I’ve been driving 1962 and they are just two different plants. Bessmer plan only made cast-iron pipe, the one down in Chattanooga maid cast iron plus soil pipe. He made it down in Chattanooga soil pipe because they have something called chert down there that makes outstanding road surfaces and soil pipe . Last time I went through Bessmer the US pot plant was still running there.

Another great video Steve! One thing for sure, times have changed. I work for the railroad, and live in a RR town, overall the RR doing a reasonably good job of adapting to the change of imports and intermodal freight. It’s so sad to see the good blue collar jobs going away. I think a lot of it is due to poor politics, from both parties and corporate and personal greed. But the work is still there if a person is willing and able, and able to adapt. I really enjoy your commentary and thoughts on that subject. I really want to say thank you for taking your time to share these videos with us. You make your adventures, our adventures. Stay safe. Peace

I have two video's of UP 4014 , 1st coming into Sedalia , MO , , 2nd leaving the platform and heading out to Kansas City. I remember having these yearly company meetings for our health care in 2012 and our company shared with us the costs of the company premiums for every employee (About 200 - 400 in the company) . Every year our co-pays went up and also the company premiums. So yet another reason to send manufacturing away from North America , no employees no health care payments.

Industry left the country. Some moved to other area's of the country. NJ lost many companies to the southeast. Whats funny is in the 40's, 50's, many people left those places to come north to the jobs. Some area's taxed the businesses out. Cost of living drove businesses and people away. Can't retire in the NE anymore

@FSC Trucking In 1975 I think it was? the major economies of the world under the direction of the UN signed the Lima declaration to begin the de-industrialization of developed nations and the transfer of jobs and industry to developing countries. The signing of the Lima declaration was the beginning of the decimation of manufacturing and other industries in developed countries like the USA, UK and Australia and the beginning of new manufacturing industry in third world nations. The UN came up with the theory that Western civilisation had it too good for too long and it was time that our wealth was redistributed via our industries to developing countries. Most of the ideology being pushed by politicians comes directly from the UN agenda e.g climate change etc.

Good intro! When did you go through Nashville. I’ve never seen the I-40 to I-24/440 split not backed up. It’s always backed up to I-40. The live just off I-65 and I-840.

Collegedale and Ooletwah TN are good places. They are North of Chattanooga along I-75. Just stay away from the mountain tops, a lot of rich folk building mega mansions on top of the mountains, so they can look down on us peasants.

Thanks steve for talking about the Land, Road and Rail industry. 23:00 - 30:00 the view was pretty good. Yea... most of the industry is over sea... all it is now is just trains taking container to a hub where they delivery it by truck to the store or warehouse so it can be sent out and sold or train to the warehouse to be off loaded. When their is more industry that means their is more trucks and trains running and everything is moving from coast to coast.. now is just passenger trains moving people around. Its no good when you have billions of people in one country just only living here. What happen when work start to slow down with construction and AI will take over some of the work force.. then what.. but I guess we will figure it out when we get their or hopefully before we get their.. Damn, kissing the ground with that view. Nice one.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Hey, buddy! What a beautiful view…bunches of them. That’s one big fire truck & it takes a big truck to pull them. I’ve missed the info on your trailer. I hate when you have to wait on truck/trailer parts! That’s all I will say about that one! Yes, it takes both trucks & trains to get most of the stuff there. I hate seeing buildings being empty & sitting idle. It’s a bad sign for the economy. I’m not really sure how bad the economy is right now, but I don’t think our leaders would really tell us the truth if we asked them. Good riding along with you, as always! Stay safe, my friend!🥰😎✌️
